Basically, if the President calls someone a "terrorist", on whatever highly creative grounds he wants, then the US military salutes and says, "yessir, they are a legitimate military target"? And Congress has nothing to do with it?

The problem in the "Global War on Terror" (which shaped this Admiral's thinking and practice) wasn't that Congress didn't authorize force - it did - but that this authorization was so vague and open-ended that Presidents (D & R) began to feel they could apply it to basically anything.

Someone who once worked for this guy told me he was at a party where everyone was in one way or another, economically dependent upon him. Under those circumstances you don't get much pushback for dumb statements. When they do encounter that pushback, they think its wokeness that must be destroyed.

Every American who wore the uniform from Valley Forge to now took an oath against tyranny, making them textbook antifascists. The military's entire purpose is defending democracy from authoritarianism. Declaring antifa "domestic terrorism" means our founding principle is now a prosecutable offense.

If SCOTUS planned to uphold birthright citizenship, they would’ve left the lower-court rulings untouched. Taking the case is the tell. You don’t grab a 150-year precedent just to admire it. They took it because they intend to change it. Pretending otherwise is denial.

They are running the government according to the logic of right-wing grievance media. I cannot emphasize that enough. The point is to create content, and they don't see an actual difference between dunking on Sabrina Carpenter, passing legislation, and bombing other countries.
I don't really know what the administration hopes to gain by picking fights with the most well-liked pop artists in the United States. You're just generating backlash for no discernible reason outside of owning the libs.
Sabrina Carpenter ratioed the White House after it used her song in an ICE video.

The WH deleted the post…but now it’s back with a new ICE video, this time using an altered clip from Carpenter’s SNL monologue.
