Every day there's a headline like "White House to audit teachers who don't let their white students say it" next to a headline like "Find the closest loaf of bread cheaper than $50 with our handy map"

Consensus seems to be both, clarifying absolutely nothing.
Linguistic question! If someone says “one of the shows of all time” does that mean one of the BEST of all time or like, “that sure was an episode that exists”?

This is the compromise? This is the bipartisanship? This is the civility? This is the return to normalcy? This is the price of winning? WHAT WILL YOU HAVE WON
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

if you spent even a third of the money diarrhoea'd down the gaping maw of these shitgoblins on actually improving people's lives there would be so many ideas even your constipated minds would appreciate it

America, you have spoken loud and clear: You do not like AI. But what if AI is the way to restart the world’s idea machine?
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

Woke up learning about how wonderful Rob Reiner was, and then saw his death news.

Since Polygon is leaving it out of the headline: Epic Games partnered with The Game Awards to put money into the pocket of a bigot who uses her wealth to further the genocide of trans people through lawsuits and legislation. Every 'free' game gives money directly to JKR, and they are complicit.

Prepping my New Year’s resolutions and considering adding a qualifier to my film list, I.e goals for female filmmakers or new releases vs old… do you measure any? #filmsky

Just keep working.
Places that have survived immense national and cultural trauma like Argentina and Ireland have beautiful, cathartic mourning traditions and I worry we won't emerge with our own because foundational American Protestantism is mostly about ignoring pain because you have to go to work tomorrow.

Hoping to eat a little healthier for my work lunches. Here are my parameters:
- trouble reheating previously cooked food
- have access to microwave, air fryer, toaster oven
- must be simple to prep a few over a weekend, stay good all week or easy to assemble on the spot

Any ideas?

The Darkest Minds, starring Amandla Stenberg. Worse than CW quality.
In a similar vein, what’s the last movie you walked out of? Not just DNF, but bought tickets to and actively left.

There’s a selection of dramas and horrors that folks like to anti-recommend and I’ve done a few to great regret. Of the films that have some merit, I’ll mention Lilja 4-Ever. Fuck.
Never mind movies you’ve watched multiple times, name a movie you’ve watched once and would never watch again.
