"Even if only 1% of Boston’s population is cycling because of bike lanes that represents thousands upon thousands of people not contributing to traffic."

@carfreeboston.org delivers a must-read dismantling of recent car brained coverage by Boston media outlets.
Rebutting Boston’s Carhead Journalists
Boston is uniquely unsuitable for automobiles. Our narrow streets are not meant for car traffic, let alone the bigger autos of our time. Cycling infrastructure makes the road safer for all

It's true that foreign aid originated as a PR effort against communism and has problems with efficiency and priorities, but it's weird to see alleged leftists act like it's part of the fight against US imperialism to stop giving food and medicine to impoverished children.

this is the "merit" two-step. first, you strongly imply or state outright that the presence of anyone who isn't a straight, able-bodied white man is unfair "DEI," then you argue that just because an institution is all-male and lily-white doesn't mean there is discrimination. that's just merit!
Opinion | DEI and Disparate Impact
The next step in restoring meritocracy is to reject the theory that proportionate outcomes equal fairness.

okay but you aren’t

again, you could be shutting down all senate business by denying every single unanimous consent request, you could be down at Treasury with cameras, you could be doing something other than issuing strongly worded statements

your actions have to match what’s happening
No one elected Elon Musk.

As Donald Trump allows Musk to access people’s personal information and shut down government funding, Republicans in Washington will also own the consequences.

We must do everything in our power to push back and protect people from harm.

If a cop wrongfully arrests you, you can scream "you can't do that" all you want.

You're going to sit in jail until you're let out. Then, if you really want, you can sue them for violating your rights and you might get a few bucks.

In that time, they will have done it to a hundred more people.

Why is it “politicization” to point out a cause (“cavalier changes to regulatory agencies” undersells it a bit, but it’s not the worst description) and culprits (Republicans in government)? Isn’t that accountability and transparency, not politicization?

We have been in this bizarre spiral my entire life:
1. Democrats ignore right-wing radicalization to focus on economic issues.
2. Right-wing media accuses Democrats of being out-of-touch leftist elites.
3. Centrist media repeats right-wing framing.
4. Democrats double down on economic issues.

I know we’re (almost) all on the same page here, but a Bluesky without cute cats, science facts, and dumb jokes would be bad for everyone.

In fairness, “you can make millions of individual molecules but there are 13 that you need but can’t make so let’s outsource their production to plants. Also, it’s actually 12…you can make one of the vitamins…as long as the sun’s rays touch your skin like you yourself are a plant” does sound fake.
