I remember spending hours listening to audio commentaries. It really was a golden age of media appreciation. Shame that they got phased out with streaming.
I miss the 2001-2006 golden age of home video, when the medium of DVD was so popular that the likes of Martin Scorsese and Robert Altman were forced at gunpoint to participate in bonus features.

We really have lost a sense of craft. Was watching CONEHEADS recently and was amazed how much wonderful practical effects work there was. And this was for a "middling" 90s comedy that came and went.

So #AniSky #Oldtaku - apparently there's been an indie called Shinsei Galverse that's a love letter to 80s/90s anime. A mix of magical girl, sci-fi and Saber Marionette J-style designs.

I love this sorta stuff. Seeing what got left out is often as intriguing as what was kept in... though I feel for people who work on this stuff to wind up unsung/unseen except for these little peeks.

I try to keep politics to a minimum because either people agree that Shit Sucks, or they argue how the Shit isn't actually Shit or that the Shit is Good, Actually. And I don't feel like giving my mental energy to argue about Mt. Shithorn over there.

at this point, I'm just about used to situations like this, where half of my timeline is talking about the horrifying sovereignty crisis facing our nation and the other half is talking about the new spaceballs movie.
