"It’s the end of January, and I’m at my local gender clinic. It’s taken five or six voicemails – the first left mid-November – to get this appointment."

I found out that my access to gender-affirming care was much less secure than I had (naively) believed: www.genderbent.co.uk/will-writing...

Doesn’t feel good that the head of BBC News Content is instructing reporters to refer to trans people with slurs. If this leak is real it raises questions about who made this decision, who was consulted, and why the BBC chose to ignore its own editorial guidelines on slurs and offensive language
EXCLUSIVE
The BBC has circulated leaked guidance telling journalists to describe trans women as “biological males”.

Clarity should not come at the cost of dignity. #bbc #humanrights #journalism #transparency #transrights

Trans folks, inasmuch as we have a bias, it's that we'd prefer to exist as opposed to being exterminated by this hateful government. I'd just like to live my life.

If these reporters who cover trans lives don't share this value ... what the hell is going on with that?

Exactly. The nyt has had a de facto ban on hiring/assigning trans ppl to cover trans ppl. It’s been true for at least five years.

It’s the definition of prejudice.
In reality: Trans folks understand what's going on much better than cis people, as regards our own lives. We cover our own community better. We aren't often empowered by these billionaire-owned media companies to do such, of course. And there are fewer of us with actual jobs every day, seemingly ...

"You need to stop being selfish and get over the fact we will kill you" is an insane official position for a political party seeking election to have and an even more insane one for liberals to actually echo
if you want me to be a fucking get out the vote account for people who don't give enough of a shit about my vote to try to keep me alive to cast it you should probably make me an offer in cash and not guilt

Apart from trans people (and queer sex), there's not a lot of things I'm finding hope in right now – but this is a beautiful reminder of another one.

I want to follow up on this using myself as an example.

Yesterday, my podcast's YouTube channel passed 100,000 views. We only started uploading videos in May and we only have 2500 subscribers there.

My newsletter and Patreon combined had 126,790 views in the last year.

This is actually really, really good.

I've seen a few people understandably respond to this with complaints about poor treatment they have received from doctors. But as the doctor's union, the BMA is an ideal group to argue for better from the profession and from the NHS.

I'm not going back to a place that suppresses all my links, allows my misgendering, and stole my blue check for profit.
Elon's little serfs are quite literally begging journalists to come back because every publicly available source of data shows people have fled the platform and young people won't use it.

They are literally begging regular people to come back. Don't do it! It is a website by and for actual Nazis!

not the first passion and talent pushed out of the BBC due to its decision to pursue bigotry rather than truth or fairness.

probably won't be the last.

take solace that your fans and friends will follow and that the only real loser here will be the BBC when the best they can get is Farage.
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

yes. more of these tbh.

The guardian has absolutely no right at all preaching about tolerance or anything else while it refuses to reconcile with its own objectively intolerant output.

hijack this shit campaign. remind people of the scumbag things they've said and done.
In the spirit of The Guardian’s appeal, I’ve added a quote from former columnist Suzanne Moore, who said this on social media defending transphobic remarks she made in the Guardian.

The paper would continue to pay for her services for years to come.

BILINGUAL. The word you're after is 'bilingual'. Most children who 'don't have English as a first language' have two languages. Sometimes more! Why do you hate this? It's beautiful!
