I wrote about this too. Why isn’t Ontario hitting the barricades in rage? We’ve so little lake access. Entirely privatized shorelines. You could give the province away to oligarchs & people would be meh. Thx to Fatima for calling this early on.

When I was growing up, a lot of right wing ppl mostly spoke about fiscal restraint, lower taxes, free trade, and - through partisan lenses - they supported things like the Charlottetown Accord. Ya, 'social conservatives' also existed. But the right today, by 1990s standards, are all lunatic fringe.

can you imagine finally deciding to spend the money to install a pool in your backyard, only to dig up five KILOGRAMS of gold... then getting to keep it after legally disclosing it?

Hi Bluesky 👋

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

The Supreme Court allows ostrich farm cull to proceed. People are shocked that potential transmitters of deadly avian disease will be killed on an ostrich farm that... (checks notes) normally kills them for meat. #cdnpoli

All that happened here was months of sleazy grifting by both Rebel News and Universal Ostrich Farms.

What still matters is that the federal government absolutely refuse to grant any compensation.

Make these assholes pay for their intransigence.

Minister of Finance Peter Bethlanfalvy just responded by citing Prime Minister Mark Carney: "it's not about targets it's about results."

To my knowledge, Canada still has emissions-reduction targets. Ontario no longer will.
A month ago, Ontario’s Auditor General told Doug Ford’s government to create a public, accountable climate plan with emissions-reduction targets — as courts have also ordered.

Today, the government’s fall economic statement eliminates all legal obligation to do so. #onpoli

With any luck, these fucking birds will finally be killed, as they SHOULD have been long ago, for public health.

The moment these assholes reached out to Trump and RFK, the birds should have been killed on principle. How dare they?

This entire escapade has enraged me for so long.

"This leaves the minority federal government in a position of having to eke out enough supportive votes from the Green Party and the seven-person NDP or risk being plunged into a pre-Christmas election campaign ... But this budget burned whatever olive branch it might have extended to the NDP"
Post-election budget could plunge Canada into another federal election - CCPA
With so much on the line, the newly elected federal government has tabled a budget that, in many ways, could pass as a Conservative budget.

This feels like a fundamental realignment in Canadian politics.
The Conservatives are completing their regression, begun in the 2015 “barbaric cultural practices” election, to their Reform Party roots.
The Liberals now resemble not the Mulroney PCs but the Harper Conservatives.
And the NDP is MIA.
1. Despite Pierre Poilievre’s partisan rhetoric, Conservative MPs feel ideologically at home in Mark Carney’s Liberal Party

If only more of the public would understand that the existing elected political left/right parties are only working to enslave and impoverish them further by extracting everything from them to enrich the wealthiest.

That goes for Canada as well.

I gotta give it up to the writers tho. If NYC elects a Muslim mayor on the day Dick Cheney died, that is one hell of a slow played story arc. Every time you want to fire 2025's writers room they give you a little narrative resolution as a treat.
