I just want people to sit w/the implications that the Democrats have spent so much time and money supporting and protecting Cuellar, who has voted w the GOP the majority of his career, and admits corruption charges and a fake pardon (he hasn't been convicted), Jeffries called him a *beloved* member

you die on the hill of defending controversial art, porn, and unpopular speech. if you wait for an easier hill to die on your opponents will have consolidated that much more power, established that much more precedent that their authority to censor anything they want is the norm.

These cruel, dumb, evil, anti-science morons must be driven out of government policy making for all our sakes.
If new proposals detailed in an FDA memo are put into place, experts told me it would mean the end of annual flu shots. And end of most vaccines for pregnant people. And maybe the end of updates to pneumonia vaccines. And more.

The 9yo: Dad, was skydiving scary?
Me: Scariest experience of my life.
The 9yo: But you were strapped to a professional, right?
Me: Yup.
The 9yo: Do the parachutes open most of the time?
Me: Most of the time, yeah.
The 9yo: I don’t think I’m ever gonna go skydiving.
Me: That’s probably for the best.

We MUST recognize our common humanity with Palestinians, with immigrants, with Trans people. If not selflessly for their sake (which should be enough!) then selfishly for our own, as it’s beyond clear that a government willing to commit evil againt an “other” will happily classify us all so.

It's wild but not surprising that last week the White House was leaning into "these seditious Democrats dared suggest that troops were receiving illegal orders!!!" and this week they are scrambling to figure out who to blame for issuing illegal orders.

Striking a boat full of unarmed civilians is murder. The first strike was murder. The followup strike was also murder.

We're not at war. It's not a "war crime". Everyone involved, including the POTUS, SecDef, the Admiral who relayed it and the person who pressed the button needs to be on trial.

I’m glad? I guess, that many still seem able to understand that the definition of a war crime is a war crime. But how are any of these supposedly intelligent people missing that the initial strikes, on noncombatants, in international waters, are also clearly, obviously, war crimes themselves? HOW!?

Jeffries absolutely cannot remain the Democratic leader in the House.
For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

Jeffries says not to expect Democrats to pursue Hegseth impeachment over boat strikes
"Republicans will never allow articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor," he said.

Killing shipwrecked survivors in the water is a quintessential war crime and one that resulted in the death penalty at Nuremberg. Hegseth is a murderer and war criminal as is every individual in the chain of command that this order traveled through. Punish every single one of them.
Pete Hegseth denies he gave the order to kill them all. But even some Republicans now appear to be demanding answers, so Frank Bradley, who oversaw the bombings, is in discussions with House Armed Services about coming in.

Rep Adam Smith lays out his Qs to me here:

It was blindingly obvious for all to see that these strikes were clearly illegal from the very first one. Took place in international waters with no clear and present danger to US forces. The unverified claim someone is transporting drugs has never been a legal justification for execution.
News --> The commander who oversaw Pete Hegseth's alleged killing of two boat bombing survivors is now likely to come in and face questions from the House Armed Services Committee, ranking Dem Adam Smith tells me.

In this piece, I try to make sense of this horror:

Trump Boat Bombings Suddenly on Shakier Ground as Damning Info Emerges
Will Republicans give us a real investigation into Trump’s bombings, now that we just learned horrific new details about them? Or are they seriously going to fall on their swords for Pete Hegseth?

Department of Defense Law of War Manual, Sec. 18.3.2.1 states the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders.

What’s its key example? Wait for it . . . It’s "orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

With the foresight of a high school student who paid attention in science class it’s obvious we need to stop the capitalists from literally destroying the biosphere, and these cowardly sycophants can’t admit to seeing the extinction level event staring us all in the face.
It is *lunacy* for the ostensibly liberal opposition party to say we shouldn't limit any individual's wealth and power after watching a cadre of fascist billionaires systematically destroy this country. That's probably the single most important thing we *must* do!
