Need universal basic income. Don’t make people apply for it. Don’t waste money trying to figure out who needs or deserves it and who doesn’t. Just give everyone the same amount of cash every month. Then sit back and watch things dramatically improve.

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Ramadan. Ramadan is 23 years old and worked in his father’s sewing factory. His father was killed and now he’s responsible for his family including his siblings Rula, 26, Rami, 20 and Ramey, 17 as well as his 2 year old nephew Jihad.

Immature people crave and demand moral certainty: This is bad, this is good. Kids and adolescents struggle to find a sure moral foothold in this bewildering world; they long to feel they’re on the winning side, or at least a member of the team. To them, heroic fantasy may offer a vision of moral clarity. Unfortunately, the pretended Battle Between (unquestioned) Good and (unexamined) Evil obscures instead of clarifying, serving as a mere excuse for violence — as brainless, useless, and base as aggressive war in the real world.

I was just watching a comedy series and laughing, but at the same time so much of it was reminding me of all the dystopian stuff happening now that it also was prompting anxious feelings. Like my brain is now processing even light-hearted things in a damaged way bc everything’s seemingly so broken
