It’s National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day! As most of you know, I’m a passionate advocate for adoption. Not only to save the lives of superb shelter cats like Fergus & Francie, but to withhold money from the commercial breeding world which has done tremendous harm to the health of so many “purebreds”. 💔

I understand that with Discworld there isn’t really a right or wrong place to start - but anybody have suggestions? I’ve read Mort a few times and enjoyed it, but trying to figure out how to enter the series feels intimidating. At the start? Somewhere else?

This is a deeply exciting moment: all three of our cats are asleep within 2 meters of each other. They have been chill. They have discovered they can all be near us without competing for attention, and nobody has to fight. MAGIC.

I’ve been building this cat wall for our three cats and the stupid fucking platforms are the worst. My partner offered to help and put the last one up, but pointed out that him helping means I’m out of the room. So now I’m just listening to the drill not work and being happy it’s not me.

If you’re wondering what French bureaucracy is like, I moved in June. I applied for my updated residence permit in July. It was approved in February and after a month and a half of trying I finally have an appointment to pick it up!
And this is an easy process where there were no problems.

"Abolish the police" was too radical, we were told. "ok fine how about we just defund the police?" we asked. No, no, still too much. Well here we are and ICE is the gestapo disappearing people for nebulous crimes of saying things.
Since Obama administration, at least, leftists/radicals repeatedly warned that Dems pouring cash into ICE and militarized police was not just evil in its own right, but laying the groundwork for open fascism.
We were dismissed, with various degrees of vitriol, for pointing this obvious fact out.

In general I prefer Bluesky but my threads is currently all about Meghan Sussex and Le Creuset and it’s just happy and pretty and fun so I have spent an embarrassing about of time on there this weekend.

I bought three laser pointers so we can have one in each room and why did I not do this years ago? It’s the cat equivalent of having a phone charger in every room.
