1. Only Nixon could go to China. Having a Nixon on your side is no bad thing

2. If your surrogates oversell the chumminess after you spent the whole day striking a delicate balance, it's incumbent on you to find new surrogates
Ok, pretty funny of Zohran’s people to put out the absolute model of the sort of statement that drives Bluesky absolutely *insane* to be studiously ignored On Here because of the source

JUST IN: The Supreme Court has temporarily blocked a lower court ruling that found Texas' new, Republican-friendly congressional map to likely be an unconstitutional racial gerrymander, as the court considers the state's request to allow the map to be used for the 2026 midterm election

a lot of people are asking (fair, honest) questions like "why didn't zohran just kamehameha trump" or "call me when this helps people". to which I say, there is value fighting for the hearts of the people and this whole affair further humiliates the dipshit centrists

The thing that's always frustrated the right wing ideologues who've glommed onto Trump is that he doesn't have the attention span to actually be a committed ideological warrior. He can scream all the right culture war shit, but it's just WWE pugilistic showmanship. He basically has no belief system.
Trump frickin' loves this guy lmao

An anecdote here is that every LGS got kicked in the nuts by Covid but the ones that survived and are now thriving are the ones that pivoted toward casual formats and "third space" type of stuff because my LGS gets most of their business from DnD and EDH nights
Don't get me wrong, the neckbeard shops are definitely still out there but the LGSes in my hometown (a wealthier suburb near Oakland) very clearly understand that their demographic is an SWE in their 40s who is playing DnD and EDH with their kids

An unintended side effect of the WOTC product fanbase growing older and skewing PMC (early 40s with disposable incomes) is that they've also realized the young kids of these consumers are also getting into Magic and DnD so taking child safety seriously wins them points and saves them lawsuits
when i worked for WotC i learned tons about compliance and safety as it relates to kids’ data and usage of apps, because there were some kids on their products and they took that seriously

roblox’s JDs talk less about specific-to-kids safety than Wizards

The other way to look at this is that PMC class consciousness, and even the support of lesser billionaires, has opened an unlimited money spigot for the Democrats, and only the support of a unified oligarch caste has kept Republicans competitive.
The partisan divide has grown, too. The wealthiest 100 tended to give more to Republicans than to Democrats before last year. But giving to the GOP spiked in 2024, with *84%* of donations going to back Republicans or conservative PACs.

We spent a year investigating billionaires for @washingtonpost.com.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

Having lived just off Kingsway for a bit, the place I miss the most is the Peri Peri Shack. I'm sure it's not anyone's top choice, but it was very reliable, always hit the spot.
For real though, has anyone made a project of eating their way down Kingsway?

Feel like you'd hit some wild highs and lows doing it.

In an interview this week, Ken Sim said that he had a list of all the times he said no to the Vancouver Police Department, and said a lot of their budget increases were out of the city's control.

We got the list. We looked at the budget.

Here is a fact check.

Reform as deep as OneCity wants require values AND competence. William has both in spades.

I remain convinced "We keep offering peace deals and Ukraine keeps rejecting them" has more to do with presenting Trump as Putin's friend because "I'm Putin's friend and I can work with him" is considered important for the President's mental health and stability. 1/?

Will is right because the recurring problem isn't that the nutbags exist, because they always will, the problem is that there's a much larger swath of people who doesn't find their behavior objectionable or at least not objectionable enough to decided to stop interacting with them
Again, it’s precisely analogous to the dynamic on Twitter, where centrists generally won’t directly yuk it up with Nazis, but feel completely comfortable yukking it up with a lot of large and influential accounts who are clearly totally fine with the Nazis. They’re pulled that way by social gravity

My entire timeline has been talking about the loud tankie minority for 24 hours. Nobody is accommodating them.
Everyone on here intuitively understands that hanging out with a bunch of Nazis on Twitter creates a powerful social pressure to accommodate yourself to far-right views, but then refuses to acknowledge that largely the same dynamic also exists on here with regard to some pretty nutty fringe leftists
