For those in Ald. Waguespack's 32nd Ward: there's a campaign via referendum to create a participatory budget process to allow for more community input on allocating public funds for our ward. 14 other wards in the city already do it. Come join a canvass! www.32nd.org/pb

For those in the 32nd Ward- it sounds like the Wicker Park Committee is trying again on their vote for the 1704 N Milwaukee development, this time as a "membership vote" which last time had a overwhelming "yes" vote to ask Waguespack to support the development

If they had a right-wing, “tough-on-crime” coded mayor there would be endless national profiles about him and how he finally brought sanity back to Chicago.

Now that summer is over, Chicago is still on track to have fewer homicides in 2025 than almost any other year since 2001. This is especially impressive considering that the five most violent years of the 21st century have all been in the past decade.

BREAKING: Further confirmation that the shooter targeted immigrant detainees, not #ICE agents. All three #shooting victims were people ICE was holding and processing at the center. The shooter died of a self inflicted would and has been described as a white male

Definitely less than ideal! I'm in the same boat- my condo is in one of the small pockets of light green in the 32nd but it's not practical under the ordinance.

Unsurprisingly it looks like the 32nd Ward will be almost fully in the opt-in or not permitted areas.

this is my best attempt so far of mapping where the ADU compromise ordinance will apply
a map of Chicago symbolized into four areas. RS zones in Pilot Areas will allow ADUs by right when the ordinance takes effect; RT, RM, B, and C1 and C2 zones will also allow ADUs by right when the ordinance takes effect. RS zones that are not in the pilot areas will require an opt-in ordinance. Other areas, shown in gray, will not allow ADUs. A note says that these zoning districts comprise PD, PMD, M, and D zoning districts.

I don't know who I'll vote for in IL9. We have qualified candidates who would make great House members.

Regardless of how Abughazaleh does in that primary (though it's not likely I'll vote for her), it is important for me to say that she has earned a lot of respect from me for her work here.

moments ago, ice agents again came out of the broadview detention/“professing” facility to escort a silver suv out of the lot.

one of the agents picked up and threw congressional candidate kat abughazaleh to the ground.

This is what people trying to put themselves in a better situation lose when you convey that experiencing a loss of safe shelter is unlawful.

Early research in Illinois shows eliminating cash bail didn't increase crime. In fact, Chicago is having a big crime drop.

It's difficult to attribute that drop to a single cause (crime data is messy!) But it is safe to say ending cash bail didn't lead to a spike.
