He walked over to hug the gold medalist after his losing score. Such a gracious, well-raised young man. He will prevail in the next Olympics.

OK I have now seen the Italian figure skater performing to the CONCLAVE soundtrack who symbolically makes himself Pope by the end.

Honestly that's how all Conclaves should work going forward. We gotta see which Cardinals can match their high technical scores with artistic presentation.

Agents working for the Chinese government stalked and harassed Alysa Liu. In part because she had spoken out about human rights in China.

Alysa gets gold in courage and compassion as well as figure skating.

There are moments in sports that are true glory, completely regardless of a gold medal. Watching Matteo Rizzo skate a perfect free skate and realize he’s won his team a bronze medal with a minute left in his program is a truly sublime one. Please make sure you watch it!

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

America is a crumbling superpower, to me, a non-historian, quite a bit like Russia by the end of the Cold War. But interestingly what I remember being taught as a child in the 80s was to have sympathy and love for Russian children. I think that is perhaps better to encourage than blanket hatred.

You know, Europeans can feel whatever they want to feel about this situation, that’s fine, but actually, I have never blamed a country for its dictator, especially in places where wealth equality is staggering and where larger powers exert enormous influence on elections.
This man is talking about stealing a country at gunpoint from nations the US is allied with. Of course Europeans hate us. You would feel the same way if you were in their place. American voters put this man in power, he didn’t seize it this time.

Stranger Things finale was pretty good imo. A nice send off.

I think Stranger Things has always been a show haunted by the idea of what people think it could have been. But the last season was a great cap to the show that it actually was, and had been since like season 2.

The Lucifer finale was perfect
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

Well fuck.

Greg Biffle was a great competitor on the track, but his charity work off the track was even better. When the floods devastated Asheville, Greg, a helicopter pilot, started flying relief missions himself to get supplies to the area.

He did the same for Jamaican hurricane victims
#NASCAR Garrett Mitchell, aka Cleetus McFarland has posted that Greg Biffe, his wife, daughter and son have passed away.
