Since Christmas is over, might I suggest "The lobsters, which were not alive," can be our new "Tiny Tim, who did not die."

Prime Video has 3 versions of a certain film, and they're presented in this order:

🍿 "It's a Wonderful Life" [colorized version]
🍿 "It's a Wonderful Life Black & White Version"
🍿 "It's a Wonderful Life Abridged Version"

The abridged version omits the alternative world where George was never born.

I do feel sorry for the kids. They’ll seemingly never know amazing things.

When dialup internet went mainstream, it was amazing. When we got broadband, it was amazing. When we got to take that mobile with 3G, it was amazing. MP3 players? Amazing! GPS? Amazing!

Now it’s just AI and enshitification.

in case it's of use to anyone else, i made a very simple trip day planner.

you can add google maps spots (and notes) to each day, drag to reorder, etc. log in with google account to sync to cloud/other devices.

will not be working further on it, so literally WYSIWYG lol

really cannot be emphasized enough that bari weiss has literally never done journalism. i don’t mean that in the pejorative sense. i mean that in the “has never performed the job she was hired to do” sense
One explanation for Bari killing the story is that she did so as a public act of fealty to the administration. But another is that, as an inexperienced journalist, she doesn’t understand that a refusal to go on the record is a kind of comment in and of itself

This and the discussion about how academics can now just read AI summaries of things really drives home how much these guys always confuse the product for the goal. You don't do a coloring sheet because you want to have a colored sheet at the end!!! The coloring is the point!!!
This is just sad.

D'oh! I'm 20 minutes late to wish you a happy solstice! At 10:03 Eastern US time the Sun reached its most southern point on the sky, and will slowly begin to crawl farther north every day. This means today has the least amount of daytime of the year, and nights get shorter from here on out!

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Part of the fun of these kinds of illustrations in context is the janky, home made feel of the graphics. Having them be “photorealistic” is boring. Let’s hope The Daily Show/John Oliver/The Onion do not follow suit.

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

(yes i still enjoy buying media via apple tv like an old man. quality is very good, portability is good, they don’t disappear on me, can download easily for trips without expiration, etc.)
