Education PhD - with ADHD - here to learn how it's https://adhdphd.blog/author/phdwithadhd/

I’m an #education #academic, in England. Former classroom practitioner, current #PhD student. Fairly recently diagnosed with #ADHD: the self-loathing procrastination kind. Not sure how I feel about it, and find other people are very sceptical. So, an anonymous account of a real person (honest!).
This post is about rewards - or how being repeatedly cattle-prodded by one's Super Ego is a pretty shitty way to live, and an ineffective motivator.
Rewards, I need a few.
In a long term project like a PhD, doubt is necessary, but not sufficient Throughout this process I've tended to focus on what I think I can't do, or my fears about 'failing', and much less on the things and times that I've enjoyed. Sometimes I worry that the doubt is self-sabotage, a way of avoiding the work, or even the responsibility, for the work.

No, he said “you’re shite”.
You’ll never guess who else experienced ‘racism’ on the job market despite their unimpeachable academic credentials.

We all should be looking to @nicoleponsford.bsky.social today and one of the largest ever study on Inclusion. It's a shocking but for some of us unsurprising read. We have a issue apprently across the board.

Been thinking a lot about how difficult it is for ADHD folk to lay down habits and practices purposefully, and how these habits and practices are a double edged tool. When working they can help you keep going consistently, or can get you started when direction is otherwise lacking /1

Great meeting yesterday with my adhd coach. If you've not got one, apply through your work, through DSA or ATW and find a good one.

Looking forward to presenting my paper on how libraries can support inclusive dialogue around open research, moving beyond a focus on ‘open science’.

Writing up some thinking about methods for my #PhD. Just decided that I'm going to see how many @billybragg.bsky.social lyrics I can sneak into my thesis. Oh well, at least #amwriting.

It still astonishes me that more people in politics and our media pretend to be concerned about kids having missed school than kids having been killed or sickened by Covid.

Seeing lots celebrate #StrictlyComeDancing Chris and Dianne. Yep disabled people when supported, accommodated, and empowered can do amazing things. So, are you doing that? In your organisation, policies and practices.

Again. Autistic people can be terrible people. NTs don't have the solo right to being awful person.Using it as an excuse when someone has no autism diagnosis or doesn't identify as autistic ( his friend, not him saying this) is outright insulting He's just awful, autism is no excuse. Stop it.
People need to stop using being autistic as an excuse for being an arsehole. It just embeds misleading stereotypes.
Yes, being autistic can mean you find social interactions difficult, I know I can.
It doesn't mean you default to walking around with a sock on your c**k.
