doing psychic damage to my TME gf by explaining fetishization of transfeminine coded people and characters and how forcefem, BL and so on all play around with this because ultimately the ideal that society wants from us is 'boything I can exploit but never allow to embrace womanhood'

idk who needs to hear this, but you spent most of your life minimizing yourself as a survival strategy and you don't yet fully realize how your refusal to make decisions makes it harder for people to connect with you

You'll also see this kind of veneration of boyhood as a safe or tamed masculinity in queer erotics, whether we're talking about gay men or masculine lesbians or many kinds of trans expressions.

I've never been a fan, frankly.

Because the boys I grew up with really wanted to be men.

repeatedly hammering that sex is not a natural inherent feature of humans but merely gender forcibly inscribed upon the flesh is one of those positions that just feels so early for its time that people wont internalize it until more people lose their lives under completely preventable causes

a lot of people treat trans women's inability to get pregnant as read through a kind of cis male privilege and not "the failure of this strata of women-things to bear children for the family is a central part of what marks them for extremely high levels of sexual exploitation and murder"

"is it gay if a cis man is with a trans woman" no because they're a man and a woman, and the trans womanized worldwide are historically expected to be like that because of sexual availability to (cis) men, but also, relationships between cis men and trans women still get

there's two long running axioms that continually fail feminist and queer politics: the idea that gender is a symmetrical structure, and that identity precedes process. in reality, gender is asymmetric, and process precedes identity: the contradiction of existence is the point of control

My list of fantasy books with a central lesbian romance (lesbian romantasy, perhaps) for people tired of getting recs where 1) there are male POVs and/or 2) the female characters keep pining for/fucking men. These books have few to no men, no male POVs, and the women are uninterested in men.

average discussion of transphobia is like "well u see, this guy called u a shithead bc he sees ur head as being made of shit, and given society's distaste of feces, he treats u differently than others, whom he does not perceive as being composed of stools"
if someone were to call a cis woman a man, or mannish, everyone would recognize that as a degrading, misogynistic outburst. but if they did that to a trans woman, suddenly we have to talk about whether society sees us as women or men, and it has to be this complex, nuanced thing. but it's an insult!

Here it is! Lesbian sci-fi books with a central romance. Criteria: few to no men in critical or secondary roles (and definitely no male POVs), protagonists are uninterested in men, this does not exclude non-binary characters either as POVs or love interests. #lesfic

Daily reminder that the underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.
Anyway, AI has already stolen friends’ work, and is going to put other people out of work.

I do not think a political party that claims to be the party of workers in this country should be using it. Even for just a silly joke.

The idea that womanhood is socially constituted under patriarchy as a site of exploitation is 100% compatible with trans existence. The desire to alter one's embodiment and social negotiation in a patriarchal world need not have moral weight!

The desire exists, and crucially, IS ALWAYS PUNISHED.
I bring a certain "womanhood is a prison" vibe to the transition that confuses people.

I altered my embodiment to what I needed it to be. I did not consent to society's endless sexualization and dehumanization of that embodiment.
like a point of solidarity that i wish was talked about more is that Womanhood can be *failed* at and it doesn’t matter if you’re cis or if you’re trans. Womanhood is, by design, a cage to begin with—at least today under the society in which we live.
