billionaires are literally stealing our money and destabilizing the world as we type, so yeah, we’re going to seize every damn cent of that money, and then we’re taxing away the rest of their wealth. i firmly believe our democracy cannot coexist with billionaires

Miista is owned by Spanish siblings who grew up in an area filled with craftspeople who made shoes.

They source all materials from Europe and employ people from the town they grew up in.

Miista is stylish and known for making excellent shoes and not being evil.

More than the NY Post can say.

These stills come from a woman's video--she was filming because she thought they were ICE and also yelling to people coming and going outside one day care to beware of ICE.

Hey National Democrats and Progressives trying to figure out how to message:

Watch AOC and Mark and Jumaane and, I’m sure, Zohran’s speeches from today. It’s rare to hear such clear and inspiring messages about hope and power in politics.

That's a song from 1949, by the way—from an era in the history of American multiculturalism that Mamdani draws on and draws strength and inspiration from over and over in his speech and his agenda and his self-presentation.

When reporting on the bounty hunter bill, the MFP shared insights from immigration attorneys who explained the legal and constitutional issues and reported that bounty hunters, more commonly known as bail-enforcement agents, had not been consulted in the creation of the bill.

You can see some of these stereotypes - the simple, morally pure countryside vs. the morally compromised, inauthentic city - play out in Greek and Roman literature.

So this is a very old idea that recurs regularly.
Do other countries have this weird notion that you’re not a “real” representative of the nation if you live in an urban center? Like do the French say Parisians aren’t really French? Are you considered not a real German if you live in Berlin? Or is this mainly a weird American thing?

The thing about a mayor is you have to feel like you could talk to him. You could talk to Koch. You could even, in a certain time and place, and up to a point, talk to Giuliani. But Bloomberg was richer than God, and de Blasio had the permanent sense he was opening a shopping mall.
