Pretty sure I've *never* had to apologize for being white, but then again I can't recall doing anything that drew attention to that other than occasionally clapping on the 1 and 3.

The upcoming celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence is a time to take stock and see if the U.S. is living up to the revolutionary ideals the country was founded upon.

also like. we did. the us is scattered with new deal monumental architecture
It's easy to dunk on liberals with something like 'why can't liberalism build anything as interesting as Soviet towers or Mussolini's monuments' but the more interesting question is the opposite, why does everyone with strong opinions on monumental architecture turn out to be politically insane.

New Illustration: "We Beat 'Em Before..."

Taken from a British WW2 poster, the original features a WW1 German soldier at the top. I just swapped it for the Nazi soldier it had at the bottom.

We can DEFINITELY enjoy the fact that Trump is miserable. He’s President and he’s miserable. He’s got supreme power and he’s miserable. He’s insecure, resentful, consumed by bitterness and rage and entitlement, incapable of being fulfilled.

I guess it’s possible to enjoy the disappointment and humiliation of Trump supporters even as we plunge over the edge of the chasm.

I've been saying lately that it's not just a win if you can get good things to happen, it's also a win if the worst that might happen gets derailed or delayed. So, whatever happens going forward, I'll take this moment as a win. No batshit declaration of war tonight is one more day without it.

My take on Trump's address tonight is that he's always won in the past by staying on the attack and refusing to apologise. He didn't defend himself: he proclaimed reality, ignored all arguments to the contrary, and went back to throwing punches.

This felt defensive, weak. And maybe a little scared.

one upside of trump insisting on a "presidential address" is it interrupted programming on every major broadcast network. so a whole bunch of normies who only see sanitized versions of
him were treated to live video of a rabid fucking hyena behind the presidential seal.
