And just like that, SFWA capitulates. Keep fighting. It works.

The highly respected Council of Thirteen, some of the most successful clan lords from all parts of the Under-Empire, have just voted unanimously to rename the Hell Pit to the Thanquol-Boneripper-Hell Pit, because of the unbelievable work Grey Seer Thanquol has done over the last year.

This is a paragraph written by a guy who was absolutely freaking out that his photo would show up in the tranches of Epstein material being released by the House Oversight Committee.

I know most people tune this stuff out but there are 4 different people who I know personally (who do not know each other) who are seriously ill and/or hospitalized right now due to COVID or Long COVID related issues. Protect your health. Protect your family. Mask up this holiday season.

there are three companies who produce RAM (Samsung, SK hynix, Micron) and they are all dedicating 100% of their capacity to AI with no plans to increase production (they know/suspect AI is short-ish term)

consumer electronics are going to have a very bad time (already happened to PCs)
"No stock": Samsung raises DDR5 contract price by over 100%
Samsung has reportedly increased the contract price of DDR5 memory by over 100%. Claiming that there is no stock, the Korean Giant has pushed the contract price of DDR5 DRAM near $20. OEMs are likely ...

writers on The Diplomat having some feelings right now
I don't think even the wonkiest high seas policy wonks I work with are ready to grasp the absolute global chaos that will be unleashed if major powers start deciding that they no longer need to defer to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Yep, the Supreme Court really is just a House of Lords—a purely political branch with bizarre veto power, wielded capriciously and without accountability. Time for massive reform.

it's the sort of behaviour which ends an institution's (threadbare) legitimacy, really
As Justice Kagan begins her dissent by pointing out, what is even the point of trial, of fact-finding, of clear error, of standards of review, when the Supreme Court simply ignores every single part of that and decides everything purely on the papers without any real consideration of the facts?

Cannot stress how bad shit is about to get if you want to build any kind of PC.
Crucial is shutting down — because Micron wants to sell its RAM and SSDs to AI companies instead. It’s already getting hard to build an affordable PC, and the exit of the longstanding provider of consumer memory is going to make that even more challenging www.theverge.com/news/837594/...

this does seem very much like the answer, but unfortunately there are a lot of people with vested interests in lined pockets and sex predators staying free and they didn't just pay for one party - so we need to sort that out
The president is a political cartoon of corruption come to life, a gaudy grifter who is selling off pardons and lining his pockets, building a golden ballroom and protecting his fellow sex predator elites, all the while regular Americans are suffering and struggling to make ends meet.

Run on *that*

Netflix/Henson would be digging all the muppets out of storage for more Dark Crystal

And I'm using my despotic powers for a full season
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.
