At various points in life, an economist, game theorist, investment researcher, and data scientist; sometimes multiple at the same time. Girldad. Would like to leave the world better for me having been here, still working out how.

Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

It’s now 15(!) years old, but the contrast between a crash in a ‘59 vs 2009 Chevy is still mindblowing: in the ‘59, you die 3 different ways, in the 2009, you have…

We have a big problem: the media and punditry are overrun by people who are driven almost entirely by a desire to appear "openminded" and "contrarian." In order to burnish that image, they seek out conservative takes to endorse, carefully choosing ones that don't seem too MAGA (and thus gauche).
This is genuinely horrifying. Fact-free far-right agitprop given accolades by credible media across the political spectrum.

@adam-lg.bsky.social quite the intersectional analysis of political and musical theory here.
As soon a certain tipping point amount of rock and roll became all about partying down and getting laid — a trend that Kiss was a pioneer of, and that reached full flower in the ‘80s — we were well on our way to fascism and I’m not even kidding.
Noteworthy that the two guys behind Trump were mediocre musicians who became famous in the 70s by putting on makeup, high heels, and one piece jump suits…while writing seductive love letters to their largely young, male fans.
