Dolly Parton has been a good person all her life. She does so many kind things for people. Compare that to someone like JK Rowling who wakes up every day and decides to be an absolute asshole.

Ich glaub du setzt die Annahme voraus, dass denen nicht scheißegal ist, wie sie mit Menschen umgehen.

Auch Basti Kurz sieht bei sich garantiert höchstens *strategische* Fehler, keine ethischen.

The current paradigm of "AI"— all of its, e.g., embedded values, design, cultural deployment, & structural affordances— has been repeatedly demonstrated to harm both critical skills development & the structure & maintenance of the relational social fabric.

That sounds pretty anti-pedagogical, to me

“One of the negative consequences AI is having on students is that it is hurting their ability to develop meaningful relationships with teachers, the report finds. Half of the students agree that using AI in class makes them feel less connected to their teachers.”
Rising Use of AI in Schools Comes With Big Downsides for Students
A report by the Center for Democracy and Technology looks at teachers' and students' experiences with the technology.

Me: "So... Russell Crowe has gotten comfortable in his goofball era and is just living his best life between easy paychecks that amuse him? LOVE THAT for him!"

Russell Crowe: [presumably] "I could actually do with another Oscar. How about I play Hermann Göring."

I remember a guy who served as a UK soldier in NI during the Troubles telling me, very casually, that their rubber bullets were the same size as D batteries, so they'd switch to those to "break some bones".

Point being - plus ça change...

one thing I learned during 2020 is that "less than lethal" munitions are explicitly designed to be shot into the ground so they lose velocity and bounce up into people and the reason I didn't know that before is literally NO ONE has ever deployed them that way.

Reporter's notebook: I actually began working on this story shortly after footage of the incident showed up last month.

But by the time I finally got ahold of folks, the story grew: 2 *other* faith leaders I spoke with *also* reported being shot w/pepper balls while protesting this ICE facility.

no they're LITERALLY exaggerating this issue. there is absolutely no data backing up their claims. ffs just say that!!
NBC news: The discussions come as Trump has sought to deploy National Guard troops in several major cities — including Los Angeles, Chicago and Portland, Oregon — saying they’re needed to reduce crime and protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials from protesters. Critics have said that the Trump administration is exaggerating issues in those cities.

labour/democrats/whoever are not losing because they’re discussing supporting trans people. they’re losing because they agreed, by engaging in the argument at all, with the premise that some minority groups can be blamed for social problems.

it’s only ever going to be a question of who is blamed.

1. In a devastating new Pew Research Survey, only 3 in 10 transgender adults report being accepted by their parents.

And only 1 in 10 say they are accepted by their extended family.

This is the lowest number ever found in surveys asking similar questions.

Fluffy white Corgi mix lying on a gray and white blanket. His tongue is hanging out and he's ridiculously cute. As always, he is staring right into the camera.

Speaking as a Birmingham native, Bessemer ain’t nothing but black folks — and I find it oh so interesting that black neighborhoods are where they keep shoving all these data centers
chadstanton.blacksky.app
I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that all these data centers are going into communities that have been historically targeted for exploitation and have the least amount of civic power wielded by the people living there.
