Here’s the part where Janice Lukes freaks out and shuts down the meeting when a registered delegation mentions being disappointed that 30 duly registered delegations were silenced

Janice Lukes said on UpTo Speed yesterday that people would be heard with respect to the Wellington Cres delays. Instead the committee moved to suspend the rules and block all these individuals from speaking today. This is against city bylaws. @faithfundal.bsky.social

Not lost on me that there’s an open fascist coup happening in LA as Janice Lukes decides to shut down debate on an issue of life and death for cyclists and vulnerable road users. She supported Khan *after* he rolled out his anti-queer campaign plank and the PCs doubled down against landfill search

If you’re not watching, Janice Lukes just moved NOT to hear ANY delegations on Wellington Cres bike lanes today. There are 30 delegations registered to speak on it. They just ejected someone who shouted that she took off work today to be here. Amazing disrespect. www.youtube.com/live/PnyG8uZ...

If a few random people can do this in less than an hour, imagine what the City of Winnipeg could do in an entire year!

Right?

Right??

This is entirely opposed to the tune Janice Lukes was singing when she added the temporary measures to the motion requesting a report. Her entire promise was something this spring! The point of a temporary measure was safety until a permanent solution can be studied! People will die because of her!

when you think about it, the sheer amount of misinformation, defunding, stigma, and general bullshit people throw at bikes is a pretty good testament to what a powerful tool they are to change the world, and how deeply they could threaten our most toxic power structures if we let them.

Mayor Hidalgo in Paris is not only making her city easier and safer to get around by bike, bus, and foot, she's dramatically reducing air pollution.
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.
Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

Truth in advertising. Once you get used to wandering a few blocks for everything you need, it shifts you at the ontological level. Like, what do you mean you're gonna "drive around and run errands this afternoon" ?!? Why would anyone do that?
