the really heartbreaking thing is when i interview Chinese devs (or Korean devs as well) or even just like network with them I get thanked for treating them respectfully.... and i think that points to a much larger issue that some devs face bc of the way american journalists talk about their work

if you're turning your nose up at Control 2 because of its gritty realistic style or bearded protagonist you have NO IDEA what you're missing. Remedy games are fantastically weird in a way most AAA games wouldn't dare to be. the whole Control/Alan Wake shared universe is like the coolest thing ever.

This is a common response to QA in particular. 😮💨 As a Quality Engineer, I’m in a lot of meetings and spend time strategizing, documenting, and negotiating for Minecraft. It’s more about collaboration between stakeholders and drilling into specific screens or user flows than playing games all day.
“Wow so you get to play games all day?” as a reaction to me being a game dev still has the power to make me instantly need a nap
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!
