When the military is deployed for the express purpose of intimidating the domestic population, something has gone badly awry.
Military documents confirm that the LA operation today was a “show of presence” intended to send a message to LA residents about the power of the federal government.

After staging with armed soldiers and Border Patrol agents on horse, they packed up and left after a short walk.

Do Rs think that doing townhalls where they have goons drag people out of the venue makes them look good? I seriously don't get what the thought process is here
🧵
NY-17 Rep. Mike Lawler had a local social worker physically dragged out of his town hall Sunday night.

Emily Feiner was singled out by private security, lifted out of her seat, as the crowd chanted “let her stay” and “shame, shame.”
She’s a constituent.
Not a threat.
Fascism again.

It’s not just Indie bookshops though. It’s all our small local businesses. The cost of convenience, of next day delivery and maybe a saving of a few € simply isn’t worth it. We will lose ourselves. A lot of shops and businesses shuttered in towns and villages in Ireland already

Why supporting indie Irish bookshops matters in the age of Amazon
The message was stark but indisputable. "Irish businesses will struggle to compete with Amazon.ie, both online and in the high street," said Kenny's bookshop on Instagram.

I don't care what side of the Israel-Palestine conflict your sympathies lie on, snatching up people with a valid student visa for the crime of writing an OpEd is naked fascism and if you don't oppose this you are a threat to this country's most basic values
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

LISTEN no one talks about this enough but the weird little monkey part of our brain really needs us to sit around in small groups, with no particular end goal or plan in mind, and just talk

Like a fundamental need for us to be healthy

What Trump Can’t Do
Nine facts that show we are still Americans. We will not give in to Trump's dictatorial regime. We are still human. We will decide our own fate.

After attending the super right wing and "racially charged" 1964 GOP convention that nominated Barry Goldwater, Jackie Robinson, a lifelong Republican, said that he now had "a better understanding of how it must have felt to be a Jew in Hitler's Germany." Indeed Jackie, indeed.
The Department of Defense deemed a story about baseball hero and civil rights leader Jackie Robinson's time in the Army as "DEI" and deleted it.

When we discuss undocumented workers I often hear people talking about them "doing the work Americans don't want to do" That may be accurate but it misses a greater point. A lot of these workers have 15 -20 years in a discipline. There is an expertise drain coming, in kitchens, and small businesses.

As the Supreme Court prepares to tackle the Trump Colorado ballot access question, plenty of so-called experts claim to have all the answers.

The resolve people are feeling in the wake of a Trump presidency to resist his confederates is important. Amazon is counter to a healthy and fair economy, Meta is counter to a healthy community. The important piece for me is to that we remember it when this has passed. Vote with your keystrokes.
