Tennessee saw the wild success NC had in diluting its dem voters and wanted to get in on the anti-representative democracy fun
TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there.

Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.

Progressive candidates in the US right now naturally have their platforms built around affordability because healthcare, housing, transit, and food access are all precarious to untenable.

We owe it to each other to meaningfully reimagine these systems.
Solomon's allies are also crushing it in the city council runoffs.

This is the first of the 14 elections on my guide where we've now added the result. boltsmag.org/whats-on-the...

I know we want to look away, sometimes we *need* to look away for at least a bit, just to get by, to try to get through it all.

But sometimes, it's just too horrible to look away. We have to ask ourselves: what we will say, what did we do, where were we, when all this was happening?
Pure, unmitigated hate.

Fascism does not accommodate moderates, it merely bumps them down the list.

For our clients who think acquiescence or compliance are smart tactics, we encourage them to look to actions that inspire right now.

NEW: President Biden commuted the death sentences of most people on the federal death row before exiting office.

President Trump is now effectively looking to retaliate, and to detain those people in the most brutal conditions in the federal system. Bolts reports:

MoneyLion charged borrowers “membership fees” for them to secure a loan, but didn’t properly include those fees in the total cost of the loan. Now, Vought’s CFPB is trying to undo a judge’s ruling by letting MoneyLion off the hook for its Military Lending Act violations.

Over 320,000 Black women have been pushed out of the workforce.

This is a red flag for our economy thanks to Trump’s mass firings & attacks on DEIA.

I convened Black women leaders to discuss how to fight back and save Black women, Black families, & Black futures.

So it’s just hard to explain this as a strategic decision at all. Instead it looks like what they learned was their own unwillingness to see people harmed by the shutdown and their own lack of leadership, not anything about strategy

By surrendering so utterly and completely at a moment of their maximum leverage and momentum, Senate Democrats taught Trump and his cadre an important lesson: Do enough damage and your opponents will buckle. Because of this surrender, our democracy is more imperiled now than it was before.

I argue that because financial protections are so impactful, government agencies and elected officials’ hostility towards consumer protection laws and enforcement is a useful bellwether for their prioritization of people’s interests over businesses’ immediate interests.
