something wonderful about Ankh-Morpork is how it allows those groups to find themselves anew; it's only in Ankh-Morpork that Cheery Littlebottom can find freedom outside of traditional dwarven gender roles, where dwarfs and trolls begrudgingly work together despite centuries of hostility.
