Reminder
When emailing MPs - be polite.
NEVER make threats, of any sort.
A template email is easy to be automatically sorted into a folder which will be ignored. Probably.
Same goes for cc emails.
Email your MP and say ‘I am a constituent’.
Postcards (& letters) can be sent free to Parly.

What do you do when the man who said you should have "the living shit beaten out of you" keeps sitting in the front row of candidate events?

You make him meet your eye.

You make him listen to the gasps of outrage when you say his words outloud.

You make him listen to the applause you get.

I want to emphasise the importance of anyone with a progressive or even a fair-minded bone in their body in the Wharangi Onslow-Western ward giving me their first preference. Please hit up friends in Karori, Ngaio, Wilton, Northland, Wadestown, Khandallah etc to check they voted

The 2025 edition of Newsroom's local government survey has reached more than a third of all candidates for council or mayor of a district/city/unitary council.

Today, I report it shows strong support for Māori wards and co-governance among the cohort of respondents.

The rumours are true - @cityvision.bsky.social is endorsing Tara Iti, the Fairy Tern, for @forestandbird.bsky.social’s Bird of the Year!

Vote Fairy Tern AND Fair(e)y Turn(er)!

Thanks to the very talented @emmamcinnes.bsky.social for this great graphic 😍💚❤️
Drawn poster with two fairy terns at the beach - both have City Vision rosettes, left is wearing carved wooden pendant, has a crutch and a leg brace, one on right is wearing an Auckland FC cap. Text reads Vote Fairy Tern for Bird of the Year And Julie Fair(e)y & Jon Tern-er for Auckland Council.

If you're sick of this government and this absolute race baiting bullshit and attacks on Māori across the board - vote in your local election and vote to keep Māori wards.

Your council is ONLY having a referendum because this government is forcing them to.

How embarrassing if they all get kept.

"How's the election going"

It's definitely the most violent and aggressive election I've been in, and it's my third

"so you don't think you'll be re-elected???"

I can be running a great campaign, having great conversations, have lot of support, and even be re-elected - and still face violence

TRAFFIC EVAPOURATION!
We all know about INDUCED DEMAND, that is one more general lane never fixes traffic congestion (it makes it worse)

Well, here is the opposite: traffic evaporation. By reallocating general lanes to transit or active modes, private traffic movement well evaporates!

Not all heroes wear capes, sometimes, like Jenny here, they just use puns and homophones.
A photo of a newspaper clipping. It is from the letter to the editor from someone called Jenny Senior from Waipawa. The letter is entitled "Say what?" and the text says - spelling as original!

Kia ora, Māori language is sew confusing that I am knot surprised that the minister has put fourth an idea that will make learning how too reed easier four knew entrance. Hour children mite find it sew much easier in they're lessens, if they only have to here and eyes won language.

I’m so annoyed that I called this before the election. Y’all just want chaos and destruction for the sake of it. Y’all being Nat voters.

A poster for an exhibition, it has a piece of knitting that says "DEMOCRACY KNITS by Louise Hutt" surrounded by knitted hats with the words vote on them, balls of yarn, and the text "an exhibition, Friday 5th Sept - 6pm, Nancy Caiger Gallery. One night only".

Shame Hipkins didn't make healthier school and work environments, clean air etc, mandatory whilst he was Health Minister/PM, maybe even making covid and flu vaccines available to our kids too?

So, I went away to look at why the A-G thought that. Because, rights advice given to the A-G by their officials gets put up on the Ministry of Justice website (so we can see why any rights limits are considered to be "justified"). Except ... that's weird ... there's no advice listed for this Bill!!!

Advice provided by the Ministry of Justice and the Crown Law Office to the Attorney-General on the consistency of Bills with the Bill of Rights Act by the title of the Bill.

Reading the BBC News front page you'd think that the biggest crisis facing this country were some people living in hotels for a bit.
