Struck me here that, no matter what critria anyone applies to listing prime ministers of the UK, the only 100% guarantee is this: whatever position mean 'worst', Liz Truss will occupy it. We have our one certain datapoint. Quite the acheivement in it's own way.
Unless Mr Hypnotoad gets in, anyway.

The only correct take on a fundamentally anti-human technology.
Screenshot of David Simon interview
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Social media is very effective at creating sin-eaters. A sin-eater is different from an ephemeral main-character. It's a recurring "well would you look at that guy" person you see screenshotted on your feed constantly, who is meant to stand in for the evils of some larger group you dislike

So this is funny.
The administration just issued a rule slashing foreign agricultural worker wages. And to justify it, in a public filing, Trump's Labor Department alleges that Trump's immigration enforcement has devastated the Ag workforce and caused a "risk of supply shock-induced food shortages."
Trump Labor Department Says His Immigration Raids Are Causing a Food Crisis
In a filing in the Federal Register, the Labor Department argues there are “immediate dangers to the American food supply” due to a lack of migrant agricultural workers.

Brings to mind one of those ridiculous student conversations where we were discussing our families and someone said "isn't it remarkable how so many of us are descended from people who *survived* the trenches?"
Which also links a little bit to what I'm grumping about here:

Living in a city that was already old when the Vikings arrived, you often hear the same bullshit about the quality of old buildings and how they've lasted. But folks rare notice the maintenance (some being continuously rebuilt for many 100's of years), the adaptations, and most importanly, THE GAPS.

When you could code silly quizzes on Facebook, it was FULL of "what would you be in medieval times?!" etc.

I made one that nearly always answered "died as a child", "died in childbirth", "lived and died as a servant"

People got SUPER mad with it.

Everyone assumes they'll be at the top of the tree

The subtext of ‘we should be more like Dubai’, beyond the obvious racism, is ‘I should have a servant’.

the most delightful version of logging on to see what news you've missed
Dr Ramsdell, whose phone had been on airplane mode when the Nobel committee tried to call him, told the BBC's Newshour Programme that his first response when his wife said, "You've won the Nobel prize" was: "I did not."

To which Ms O'Neill replied that she had 200 text messages that suggested he had.

I have no time for the idea - no matter what political stance held or claimed - that we can re-brand nationalism and utilise it 'for a good cause'. To use it or its symbols is to empower and endorse some version of it, and it is nothing but poison. Fuck nationalism; no exceptions. And fuck flags.

A whole bunch of us have grown up in the UK knowing to flee in the other direction if we spot this flag anywhere. We’re not going to pause to see if there are stickers stuck below them.

And if they’re stuck elsewhere, we will not get close enough to see the text - again, we’re just going to leg it.

Agreed.
But I suspect this wont to do it.
To do that it's going to have to recruit externally - i.e. those who would otherwise go to more reliable sources use his instead. He's only recruiting internally.
This is why chatGPT et al are more worrying - they're not so tainted. They're gathering souls.

New council offices were built in the early 80s
Rumour had it that
A) there was a nuclear shelter in the basement (true)
B) that in the event of nuclear war the people who would go into it were local councillors and school dinner ladies with the aim of repopulating the county (unlikely)

So, we're asking you all: what was the most scandalous (true or false) bit of gossip that dominated your school or neighbourhood growing up?

The previous Tory gov and Brexit have cut deep, hideous wounds into UK higher education. Reform want to kill it stone dead. Now Badenough is marking it as an enemy.
We might want to consider very carefully why the right so often see certain people knowing certain things as objectionable.
