Yes, the large pale pterostigma (wing spot) is a good identification feature.

Rewarding seawatch at Point of Ayr this morning, with a single Leach’s Petrel and 3 Arctic Skuas including these two very dark chocolate brown juveniles. Beautiful markings. Glad I had my camera at the ready when they flew along the beach. #birdingwales @birdsinwales.bsky.social

So obviously after no sleep I decided it was Sunday not Saturday. 😂😂 Will try again. We had such a long evening and night with Storm Amy. I thought I’d post this calm Irish #sunrise

The sky exhales, the earth stands still,
and peace returns beneath the hill.

🌅 #photography #Ireland #EastCoastKin
A striking Irish sunrise over a quiet field, with the silhouettes of three trees standing against a vivid sky glowing in layers of gold, orange, and violet. The dark outline of a hill rises to the left, while streaks of soft clouds catch the fading light, creating a peaceful and painterly early morning scene.

Good morning, Bluesky. Calm and bright in the Scottish #Highlands currently, but a big storm is brewing for tonight and over the weekend, with potential for power outages. With no mobile or radio signal here it means we will be incommunicado. So, calm shot for today’s #photooftheday Achmelvich
A beach photo of Achmelvich Bay north west Scottish Highlands. Blue sky with thin white cloud, a rocky outcrop right into centre a turquoise sea with white gold sand. Someone in the water at the end of the bay and a couple of people on the beach. strands of seaweed visible on the sand

'Following the science' is fundamental to uphold, whether combatting climate change denial by populist political parties, or ecological denial by populist 'conservation' groups, both of which have coincidentally right wing backers. Rejecting science & expertise seems integral to the world view.
