It is unlikely that any of my non-bot followers disagree with what I’m about to say, but this cishet Gen X-er is new here and it needs to be said everywhere I go:

Trans rights are human rights

Omg. One of the interns I taught this summer goes to Brown. Haven’t heard from him.

I’m freaking out but everyone thinks he’s already home for the holidays.

This is far closer than I ever want to be to one of these; I can’t possibly imagine how terrifying it is to be a parent. I hate this shit.
Brown University says there's an active shooter on campus. Emergency scanner says multiple victims, but unclear how many.

Video footage viewed by the Brown Daily Herald "depicted several individuals lying on the ground near the Sciences Library appearing to be assisted by police."
Active shooter on campus, Department of Public Safety reports
The alert and call was sent to students immediately by DPS following the incident, urging students to hide, run or evacuate until further notice.

Looking at him; he’s just pathetic. A dweeb. A small man.

It’s staggering- the amount of power and superiority and aggression that car culture enables…. look how it transforms this dweeb into a monster when he’s behind the wheel. A monster who screams at kids on bikes.

Friends who can, consider setting up a weekly donation?
If you're looking for a way to help Palestinians in Gaza, here is one:
A simple ask: click “weekly” a coffee or whatever spare change that you find disappearing every once in a while. And today we'll MATCH (!!!) up to £450 / $600.

Across the two hundred people who've pledged around this, it's shelter, surgeries, food for six families. chuffed.org/project/hope...

Looking for an *L.A. based* artist who (against all odds) has time for a poster gig before the end of the year.

It's for a science + art event.

We can offer $500 for the gig.

Dreadfully sorry about the timeline. Link a portfolio if you're interested, I'll delete this post when we found someone.

Evergreen advice for new artists, remove "Aspiring Artist" or whatever variation out of your bio! Are you making art? Then you're an artist! Life as a creative can be difficult enough as is. Starting off on the path by putting yourself down doesn't help you.

I’m so out of fucks. I’d better go step away before the “housing and feed my kids or keep my principles” decision is made for me.

Just really sucks that so many of us are barely getting by (if that), and the people who stole from us are rewarded with billions. It's hard to put into words how demoralising that is.

There are a lot of factors contributing to disillusionment among creators, but one big element is that you can work and strive and dedicate years to honing your craft and building an audience and still be fighting for pennies, while the money people will gladly throw billions at the new slop fad.

That confirms my suspicions about why the most IP-protective company in history hasn’t sued OpenAI into the ground over Sora.
