I want to do a boast.

I finished my MA in Classics and I just found out this week that I got a distinction. I am very very proud of myself.

My dissertation was on women in Ancient Rome who wore the toga. Ask me anything. Really anything (about my subject, or I'll try more broadly in Classics).

The Court families are very into their history. I ought to be, but in all honesty, I joined more for the bit where you get to guide people all over the world. Turned out more of it is close to home than I expected, but there you go. We all make decisions we don’t fully understand the implications of in our youth, don’t we? Anyway. It’s damp down here, and only a little light comes through the tree roots. I turned my hands over one another, muttering the rhyme, and my guide-light appeared. “This way, my lady.” I started along the main road. The cobbles were moss-slick underfoot, and buildings in various states of ruin loomed in the shadows to either side. Grey stone, mostly, like the oldest chapterhouse buildings. Lady Arel, beside me, was looking around her, but still moving fast. “I have never before been down here,” she said, in the tone of one making conversation.

Just finished "The Sheltering Flame", the first novella in Wiz Duos volume 3 from @wtpress.bsky.social and it was excellent, a very satisfying contemporary fantasy that reminded me of Peter Beagle or Charles

Minority representation on TV causes outrage There has been widespread support for prominent Reform MP Sarah Pochin after she complained about the over-representation of minorities on television. Said one angry viewer, "She's right. Every time you turn on the telly there's another Reform MP being interviewed by Laura Kuenssberg." She added, "I respect their way of life and their strange customs, but Reform MPs comprise only 0.7 percent of the House of Commons. Yet Nigel Farage is on Question Time more than Fiona Bruce."
