As the Supreme Court term begins, keep this framework in mind: Autocratic Legalism.

Instead of “rule of law” (law constrains the power), we get “rule by law” (law as a weapon for power).

Authoritarians usually have to install allies. Trump started his second term with that step already complete.
The only effective opposition is through the language of morality and documented harm—not legal technicalities that can be swept away with a 6–3 vote.” The text is centered on a neutral background, with “morality” and “documented harm” slightly emphasized to underscore the moral and empirical contrast with “legal technicalities.”

But he accidentally made it public?

So glad we didn’t elect Hilary, she used a private email server sometimes.

These motherfuckers genuinely believe no one but Republicans should be ALLOWED to govern. The scorn they have for the majority.

Two big GOP activists from Oregon were in DC last month for meetings with Trump admin officials. On their podcast they talk about a plan they discussed to nullify the results of Oregon's 2026 federal elections. Pass federal voter ID law, then refuse to seat OR delegation because OR didn't comply.

Also, we proposed a idea how to do a end run on vote by mail. Concept is based on what Trump proposed. When you vote, you check everyone's citizenship as well as voter ID.
In a vote by mail state, you might be able to check citizenship during voter registration. You can send copies of your passport and your birth certificate in.
How in the world are you going to check our voters?
Voter ID, right? Vote by mail. So that creates a problem for Oregon.
But if federal government new requirement is to check both, and if Oregon can comply with the requirements, what would happen to our election result? I'm talking about the entire federal delegation.
For federal elections, we're talking about only federal elections.

So entire federal delegation, congressmen and senators could be challenged, could be unseated because you didn't follow federal requirements to elect them. So I said the trade-off is worth it. You know why?
Democrats control two Senate seats out of six congressional seats. We only control one. They control five.
You talk about trade-off, right?

I mean, the royal family also got to laugh at some inoffensive jokes contractually guaranteed to not make them feel attacked.

But mainly they bought Burr’s complicity.

What he either doesn’t know or doesn’t acknowledge is that this, this moment right here, Bill Burr coming back and saying Saudi Arabia is totally normal, is the real reason they paid him so much money.

They bought him into their crime circle, and now he MUST defend it to defend himself.

And also, you are correct, that is the best joke of the lot! Just incredible.
ryanmiglavs.bsky.social
Oh, haha, I just realized you meant that specific joke was the best of the bunch. I didn’t immediately get that, because it’s such a weak joke!
ryanmiglavs.bsky.social
Totally!

And honestly, The Guardian just publishing this straight in the article, with notes about the audience… reactions… is pretty hilariously brutal!
ryanmiglavs.bsky.social
And the whole article is written with a charming-yet-total scorn for the crap the author had to sit through watching it. Just lovely.

Plus this from a producer of the show:

“Himes added: ‘To be clear, a “right-wing” late-night show would be a terrible idea.’”

Yep, that’s correct.
ryanmiglavs.bsky.social
Read all the… jokes? … in the article. Just amazing stuff!

If Saudi Arabia is a monstrous regime, and he took money from them, then HE’S a monster, so he absolutely must not let people say they’re a monstrous regime.

What a purchase they made.
ryanmiglavs.bsky.social
Look what they bought: Now, to defend himself, Bill Burr MUST defend Saudi Arabia.

This moment right here is why they paid him, so he’d come back and say SA is totally normal. If they’re not normal, HE’S a monster. He’s been bought into their crime circle.

A bargain.
