I just finished this and my blood ran cold. Whether it’s from the unintentional bungling of corrupt amateurs, or something far worse than I care to think out loud, we are blinding ourselves and tying our hands in the face of an actual threat from a nation state.
The most uncomfortable read you'll encounter this weekend.

It's 6:30am on December 7, 1941 and the commander of the Pacific Fleet continues to insist the primary threat to Pearl Harbor is sabotage.

Park the fighters closer together, take down the useless torpedo nets, Japanese can't fly, anyway.
The FBI Spent a Generation Relearning How to Catch Spies. Then Came Kash Patel.
As China’s spies grow more aggressive, the FBI is distracted and off-balance.

I had to double check the name, because my WWII sailor grandfather was ecstatic that night. Literally called me and said he can die happy that he saw the Red Sox win the series, after coming from behind and beating the Yankees to get there.
Man, I’m really glad this WWII sailor lived to see the 2004 Red Sox Reverse The Curse.

I have been up since 345 with an arthritic flair, and I’m more convinced than ever that my body chose this winter to just fold up. I can barely walk today. Plus side, I’m getting a lot of reading done.

There’s no true love of country in this sordid movement.

There’s love of a M&A exit paid for by the taxpayer.

There’s love of a price floor paid by the taxpayer.

There’s love of regulatory relief paid by the taxpayer.

They wrap themselves in a flag to shield their actions & selves from scrutiny.

…”you may fly over a land forever; you may bomb it, atomize it, pulverize it and wipe it clean of life—but if you desire to defend it, protect it and keep it for civilization, you must do this on the ground, the way the Roman legions did, by putting your young men in the mud.”

The Schism between White Christian Nationalism and the Catholic Church
A fascinating showdown is unfolding before our eyes — a widening rift between the populist currents of American politics and the longstanding traditions of Catholic social teaching.
