The Trump administration is attempting to force a new term for gender affirming care to call it "sex rejecting procedures." This term was literally made up this year by the far right group Ethics and Public Policy Center in a comment submitted in April 2025. It is now being used widely by HHS.

I would like to see the major medical centers to file comments pushing back hard on this rule, which has implications for clinical judgment far beyond this context. I'd especially like to see it from the ones (like that affiliated with my university) who have bowed to Trump threats by ceasing GAC.
By doing so here, the Trump Administration runs smack into the prohibition on Medicare and Medicaid regulating the practice of medicine (as opposed to deciding what they'll pay for). Congress recognized regulating the practice of medicine is a state function, not one for Medicare/Medicaid.
