Unless the Treasury foots the Bill, the opportunity costs for the NHS will be huge. And will fall on patients.

How on Earth did Goodwin get "radicalised" from the entirely moderate and non-racist Legitimate Concerns About The Rate Of Change In Communities to here in a mere ten years? A real mystery that has baffled many great minds.

Let's spell it out then. The motivation is
1/ empathy for our fellow human beings
2/ to raise the political cost of the British government's complicity to the point where London is forced to withdraw its support, thereby increasing the international pressure on Israel to cease its genocidal acts.

There’s lot of Covid going around at the moment, again. I don’t qualify for NHS jabs, which are now very restricted, but I just paid £90 for one at my local pharmacy. As a freelancer, that’s a lot less expensive than having to take a week or two off if I get ill, let alone risking long term issues.

Looks like this story encompasses what we were trying to say in our paper earlier this year - the planning system has ended up acting as the last bastion of defence against a whole suite of negative outcomes - in this case it looks like water shortages - caused by failures elsewhere in the system...

A little bit of background suggests this is really potentially worrying and she knows nothing about what she's talking about. The snails are not "on the site" (if they were it would be less of a problem because you would just pick another site)...

Irony being that the entire Farage-isation of British politics is built on the phenomenon of white right-wingers who don't want to "integrate" with the reality of multi-ethnic Britain, don't want to accept migrants as their fellow citizens, and don't want people of colour moving into their street.

Wow. Robert Jenrick doubles down by branding a black journalist's questions "ridiculous" and saying that the problem is not his comments, but "journalists like you who pop up and try to knock me down", adding that "this is the reason why terrorist attacks happen". ~AA

Excellent letter from the Bishop of Birmingham to Robert Jenrick.

At a time when so many other voices have been silent, the bishops have been admirably outspoken against attempts to stir up division.

The churches do a lot of community cohesion work & do not want to see this trashed for party gain.

The consistent attempts to demonise, stigmatise and other the anti-genocide movement ("unBritish") is a form of political collusion with the genocide. It directly echoes and amplifies the propaganda of the state committing the genocide, and seeks to alleviate political pressure on its accomplices.

Incredibly dangerous for a senior politician to suggest that there's some zero-sum game to be played between mourning the losses of Oct7 and protesting an ongoing genocide. And incredibly cynical given that the protests are directed at his own complicity

It's actually really impressive how much of where we got to right now stems from the top legal and political scholars in our media just declaring "well if that's true then the left is right, and we know they're not, so that isn't true" for like, thirty years

That is the context for this rank insult to the public’s intelligence: a desperate plea to our horrible national press to crank up the hate campaign against members of the public, again, because the government has nothing else to say that anyone wants to hear.

Few people saying "actually she's right" about media obsession w Farage, but 1) it would OBVIOUSLY come up in interviews; 2) there are better answers than "SorryWhatPardon I don't understand"; and 3) it actually wasn't true here - first half was about her poor performance with no mention of RefUK.

- On what basis?
- Do you admire him?
- I don't understand your question.
- What do you think of him?
