The teenager told officers he was a U.S. citizen, but an officer broke the car’s driver’s side window and detained him. In a video, the boy can be heard telling an officer that he is a citizen, to which the officer replies, “Get out of the car” and “I don’t care.”

this is genuine psychological warfare and it seems to happen to every professional woman at some point:
At some point during my PhD, a senior male colleague told me that the only reason another senior male colleague was interested in my research was to get into my pants. Double whammy: apart from harassment fears, that made me think that my research was garbage.

I consider it a sign of how screwed up people are about human bodies that men can donate used tee shirts, but women can't donate bras.

Today's advice from your Goth Auntie:
Drink some water, take your meds, and take a short break from all social media.
Look for ways you can help. If you're making donations, don't forget homeless shelters and food banks.
The ominous music in the distance IS getting more ominous.

-Resting IS productive. May all of us remember and believe that.

The writing scams are everywhere and they prey on writers hoping to put their words in front of readers, and for that reason alone every one of these scammers should be on the kissing end of a roundly swung shovel

ER doc here! This is a lie. Wait times are up because the American healthcare system is an unsustainable business model and a for-profit national healthcare system just doesn’t work. These problems will continue to get worse until we change that system. It literally has nothing to do with immigrants
Vance: "If you're an American citizen & you've been to the hospital in the last few years, you've probably noticed wait times are especially large & very often somebody who's there in the ER is an illegal alien. Why do those people get healthcare benefits at hospitals paid for by American citizens?"

In the mood for a "Stand alone fantasy/sci-fi novel"? Check out The Bone Orchard by @saraamueller.bsky.social‬. #AskALibrarian
The Bone Orchard — Multnomah County Library
The Bone Orchard — Mueller, Sara A., — "Sara A. Mueller's The Bone Orchard is a fascinating whodunit set in a lush, gothic world of secrets and magic--where a dying emperor charges his favorite concubine with solving his own murder, and preventing the culprit, which undoubtedly is one of his three terrible sons, from taking control of an empire. Charm is a witch, and she is alone. The last of a line of conquered necromantic workers, now confined within the yard of regrown bone trees at Orchard House, and the secrets of their marrow. Charm is a prisoner, and a survivor. Charm tends the trees and their clattering fruit for the sake of her children, painstakingly grown and regrown with its fruit: Shame, Justice, Desire, Pride, and Pain. Charm is a whore, and a madam. The wealthy and powerful of Borenguard come to her house to buy time with the girls who aren't real. Except on Tuesdays, which is when the Emperor himself lays claim to his mistress, Charm herself. But now--Charm is also the only person who can keep an empire together, as the Emperor summons her to his deathbed, and charges her with choosing which of his awful, faithless sons will carry on the empire--by discovering which one is responsible for his own murder. If she does this last thing, she will finally have what has been denied her since the fall of Inshil--her freedom. But she will also be betraying the ghosts past and present that live on within her heart. Charm must choose. Her dead Emperor's will or the whispers of her own ghosts. Justice for the empire or her own revenge"--

"'properly fitted'?" A corset should fit like very close-fitted clothes. It shouldn't slip around. It shouldn't compress your ribs. If you can't go up one flight of stairs easily, it's too tight and/or the wrong shape for your ribs. People did/do tight lace. That's a fashion thing, like 4-5" heels.
The only strapless bra worth talking about is a full, over-hip *properly fitted* corset.

A Philosophy Of Thieves (ARC) by Fran Wilde You know the one thing that sucks about reading an ARC? You have even longer to wait for the sequel! I'm itching for more of the Canarvier's and it's still more than a month until this book is released. Seriously, if you haven't preordered this yet, get on it. This novel doesn't stop, a fast-paced race that had me reaching for the next page before I was barely halfway through the one I was on.
