New from me: In the New Republic @newrepublic.com, I wrote that we should refuse to choose between the easy way and the hard way to boost birth rates.
What If Both Sides in the Birth Rate Debate Are Wrong?
The right wants to steer women away from work and toward motherhood. The left wants to provide them with more state support so it’s easier to have children. We should refuse this choice.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

The U.S. is in imminent danger of losing the National Death Index (NDI), compiled by the staff at the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).

This would be a tremendous loss for so many reasons. And an unnecessary one, as the NDI Program is 100% self-supported by user fees.

Medication abortions are safe, effective, and common.

There’s a lot of disinformation out there, and right now, access and information are everything.

Two months after the Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade, in June 2022, Idaho’s trigger ban outlawing most abortions—one of the strictest nationwide—took effect.

According to a new peer-reviewed paper study, Idaho lost more than a third of its OBs—94 of 268 total—afterwards.

Wow. Scientists have edited mosquito DNA to prevent the spread of malaria to humans "while supporting essential physiological functions... and negligible fitness costs" to the mosquito population.

Potentially ending the mosquito-born spread of malaria to humans.

Trump posting “riots and looting” is false, I’ve been watching videos all day. ICE has been attacking people all day.

He is setting the stage to put out a fire - that they created, lying about it, blaming protesters, taking over Newsom authority and national guard.
