"Everybody loved Ryne Sandberg" is really not an exaggeration.

There was so much sadness in Cooperstown this weekend as his fellow Hall of Famers braced for this news.

Ryno was so beloved. His smile, his warmth, his kindness were ever present. He was always there for anyone who needed help.

RIP to one of my favorite people in baseball
With great sadness, we share that Ryne Sandberg has passed away today.

On my 15th birthday, I was in the stands for Ryne Sandberg’s last game at Wrigley Field. He raised his cap as the theme from “The Natural” played before making his exit.

It also happened to be the last time Harry Caray led the crowd in singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

My friend just told me that when her dad, who is a huge Cubs fan, was in the hospital for heart surgery, she wanted to buy him a Ryne Sandberg “get well soon” Cameo but couldn't afford it. She contacted him and Sandberg sent her dad a message and a selfie for free.

I grew up idolizing Ryne Sandberg. Saw his last games at Wrigley Field, and his HOF induction in 2005. They say “never meet your heroes,” but I still did. After weeks of badgering the Smokies PR person in 2009, I got to spend 10 minutes interviewing Ryne Sandberg and asking every question in my head

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

What the fuck is the point of paying money to a police department if they won’t protect people from hostile masked kidnappers?

Not to state the obvious, but none of them were sent to a terrorist prison in El Salvador. They all had lawyers, indictment by grand jury, a trial or a guilty plea where a judge ensured it was knowing & voluntary & access to an appeals process. In other words, all the hallmarks of due process.

Last night was the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's midnight ride to warn the Minutemen of approaching British troops.

I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III.

Remind you of anyone?

Feel almost like I grew up with Richard Chamberlain as a cool substitute teacher.
He starred or co-starred in so many books brought to the screen in the 70s and 80s.
Made him a fixture in school for when the teacher needed a movie day.
May his memory be a blessing.
Richard Chamberlain, who played Doctor Gildare in the 1960s tv series and was the first Jason Bourne in the 1988 Bourne Identity television movie has died at the age of 90. He also starred in the 1980s Thorn Birds and Shogun television series along with his many Broadway appearances.

Which apparently can be done best by preventing a gay black woman from speaking.

Figured I’d hop on here today for the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act.

With everything going on right now, it’s easy to feel like regular folks can’t make a difference – but the ACA is a reminder that change is possible when we fight for progress.
