In 2024, Tierra Walker was sick and getting sicker. She was also pregnant.

She knew abortion was illegal in Texas, but thought there was an exception for women like her, whose health was at risk. Doctors told her there was no emergency.

Then she died.

Covering Jamal Khashoggi's murder was one of the most disturbing things I've worked on. Hearing Trump say he was "extremely controversial" and people "didn't like him" is chilling. Hard to take any other way than he thinks there is moral ambiguity in the murder of a journalist.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

We’ve talked about how we in the media normalize (even incentivize) aberrant behavior by public figures who make it their brand.

But just imagine if an official in your city or town had told a female reporter asking about a sex abuse scandal, “Quiet, piggy.” Headlines for days.
When asked on Air Force One if there was anything "incriminating" in the Epstein emails, Trump pointed a finger at the female reporter's face and said “Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.”

Global carbon emissions from fossil fuels are projected to rise to an all-time high this year, according to a report.

At this rate, it will take the world four years to pass the threshold experts agree would constitute catastrophic warming, the authors said.
Despite surging renewables, fossil fuel emissions will hit record this year
Emission-rate increases will accelerate in the U.S. and E.U. but will slow in China and India, according to a report published Wednesday.

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

Pure cruelty.

Officially, stores cannot give SNAP recipients preferential treatment absent a waiver, w waivers given to places encouraging healthy eating.

So obvs a rule aimed at preventing junk-food places from targeting SNAP.

This is … SO much not that.

And this enforcement is a CHOICE.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
