[email protected] brings together Obama’s sense of ‘us’ and Bernie’s honesty about a ‘them’ who profit when we’re divided. In a city where the whole world lives side by side, the closeness of so much difference reminds us how much we share and how empty the politics of fear really are.

When Florida sends its people, they’re not sending their best.

In the 2010s, this country's elites were thrown onto social platforms with everyone else and could finally read what we all think about them and it caused them so much psychic damage that they decided to destroy both the internet and democracy to make sure nothing like it ever happened again.
If this is what it took for you to be pushed into fascism you were probably already there

In case it ever comes up: I am categorically opposed to political violence and assassination. It is both morally wrong and almost always ineffective at achieving positive social change. It is, bluntly, a net negative for society.

There can’t be any gun restrictions because we have to protect against federal government tyranny, and if kids get shot we just have to live with it. Also the President can send troops to cities because the federal government can do whatever it wants. These two ideas are consistent and reasonable.

There are a whole lot of people in media who hold opinions that they know will ostracize them from liberal polite society and whose entire output is now explaining to liberals to drop their objections to those opinions, not for them obviously, but because "the voters" demand it.
This line of argument, which launders one's own opinions through the "voter" is getting so fucking tedious. You say what you want, man.
