Trump’s fixation on the idea that Pu wants to end the war leads to this endless cycle of trying to set up another meeting to talk it out. He’s wasting everyone’s time, including his own. In the meantime, Ukrainians are dying. Morbid irony given his insistence he wants to save lives.

It's remarkable that Merkel doesn't have the common sense to be quiet considering her absolutely disastrous period as Chancellor. She appeased Russia. That fueled Russian aggression. As a result thousands of people are dead. Those are the facts.

Fuel shortages are sweeping across Russia. Some stations have been without petrol for two weeks. And this isn’t just a regional issue - there’s even rationing in the suburbs of Moscow.

Feels like we might be moving towards a tipping point.

1/ Poland has invoked NATO's Article Four, which triggers consultations among allies. It is highly unlikely this will be taken as an "armed attack" meeting the threshold of Article Five. So the question is what NATO does after these consultation. Some ideas below.

This isn’t a moral comparison.

It’s about understanding the sheer magnitude of Ukraine’s suffering and displacement

It is highly unlikely that Putin is willing to make the concessions that Witkoff et al. are claiming like robust security guarantees for Ukraine. From a Russian perspective, it would amount to a Putin acknowledging that they have lost the war.
One of the things Zelenskyy and his European posse should insist on before they get into substantive discussions at White House is proof of any claimed Russian concessions, including those now reported by Witkoff on security guarantees. Supposed past concessions have been wishful thinking.
