That’s wild! It’s so close to here, relatively speaking, but I had no idea.

Step 1 of the plan:

Turn the justice system into a political witch hunt operation that punishes critics for free speech and immunizes loyalists for actual criminality.

We aren't on the verge of an authoritarian takeover. We are in the middle of it.

But I worry people don't see the whole scheme. They just pay attention to each new daily outrage. So I went to the Senate floor to explain Trump's plan.

Here's a 🧵of the speech. It's important.

“She plays to an audience of 200 people,” one Hollywood executive with ties to Weiss told Variety. “It just happens to be that audience is made up of people like Jeff Bezos and Bill Ackman. The superrich f------ love her.”

132 This is such a clever premise. A present-day true crime podcast investigates the disappearance of a marine biologist and her whales back in 1986. Cox interweaves that story with two separate adventures of the Enterprise crew, one mid-TOS and one movie-era, all connecting eventually. #booksky

He said this deliberately because he is a Nazi and he wants you to know he's a Nazi who you can't touch. He also wants other Nazis to know they can be open about the fact they are Nazis too.

This isn't an oversight, a fumble or an opportunity for a "heh, well actually, dummy" zinger.

"Antifa has been around in various iterations for almost 100 years in some instances, going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany."

Everyone can set aside partisanship, psychologizing, pathologizing, whatever, and—I would hope—still see that it’s incredibly dangerous for a political leader to be this disconnected from the real conditions in the country.

Trump: "I don't know what could be worse than Portland. You don't even have stores anymore. They don't even put glass up. They put plywood on their windows."

Aw, do the poor little masked hooligan human trafficker coward babies need an invading army from another state to protect them from strongly worded criticism?

No, I'm tired of the silence over 5,000 trans service members and their families being kicked out. I'm tired of the silence over the demonization of the trans community. I'm tired of trans youth being attacked. If you want stack up your Democratic campaign record against mine, I'm here. Go ahead.

This is an example of why Progressives cost Democrats elections. Tom gets to choose what he writes about and you rip him for not discussing something unrelated and off his topic. This is a sad but persistent habit of certain liberals. It is a losing play. Pontificate elsewhere. Dear God, indeed.

131 After already falling in love with Haynes’ women-centered reimaginings of Greek myth, now I find out she used to be a standup comedian! In this BBC radio series, she turns those comedic skills to celebrate great authors and thinkers of antiquity, and it’s marvelous. #booksky

An image of Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music, twirling on an alpine meadow in a long Austrian skirt, next to an image of Christopher Plummer as Georg Von Trapp in the same movie, tearing a Nazi flag in half.

Natalie Portman with a shaved head in the film V for Vendetta, which is a movie not real life, gazes at the masked anarchist revolutionary V, who again, is not real life but based on a comic book character.

Portland police warning someone (maybe someone who works for ICE) if they drive into the crowd of protestors they will be arrested.

Person says "I'll take care of it."

What does that mean? They think they abide by a lawlessness higher than the law?

Kudos to this cop for protecting protestors. 🔥

Are all the Antifa proconsuls supposed to announce themselves too? Because that’s gonna take a while.

This is not a photo of protestors in Portland “ICE fishing”, as clever as that sounds.

I can’t find the photographer so far, but it’s been online since at least 2013, and those are Toronto cycling cops, not American ICE agents.

Note the uniforms, shorts, bikes, and lack of masks.

What the actual fuck??? This is a really scary situation. This family is already facing death threats which is why they are leaving.

Because Dr. Bray is a scholar of anti-fascism.

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’
