"Reporter: Do any of you have a favorite animal?

Child: My favorite one is a gold snake that can move. It has gold eyes, and it has a super-duper tail…

Reporter: Mr. Mamdani, the second question for you.

Mamdani: Yes. It’s also the golden snake."

And one other thing: we’re being told that AI is the only way to make games cheaper and faster, to pull us from this precipice of production nightmares the industry has found itself in. That it’s necessary.

We put out roughly 3 motherfucking games a year, not touching the stuff.
Skill issue.

If they make a sequel to Muppets Take Manhattan I hope they do it while he’s mayor and put him in it.
Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.”

Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

Marvel's Wonder Man is funny and heartfelt in equal measure, and it thrives on the strength of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley’s performances.

You could actually structure your moral code around the idea that law enforcement doesn't exist to execute people. You don't have to create perfect victim narratives, you can just refuse to accept that the state gets to kill people.

Watching #startrek #starfleetacademy in the 32nd century I thought it might be cool to #read what it was like for Benjamin Sisko in the 24th century.

I devote 4 chapters on the Academy.

Here’s an excerpt and if you haven’t read #theautobiographyofbenjaminsisko yet — why not?!

Variety wrote "profitability remains a ways away" about SINNERS after its opening weekend, and "ways" turned out to be another five or six days.
Sinners setting a record for noms after every industry plant in the trades posted handwringing concern trolling about it bc of Coogler’s negotiation skills is the icing on the cake.

When I watched Sinners, all I could think was “this is like a beautifully crafted movie from the eighties by a top tier director”. That’s the feeling it gave me, that’s how it looks, that’s how it delivers.
Have folks started recognizing Coogler as Spielberg's millennial successor yet? Because that's the space he fills, to me.

Well-crafted, beloved, quality, big-audience studio pictures. Run him his propers!

World leaders — especially Europeans — have figured out over the last 72 hours what our domestic democrats still have yet to grasp.

Trump only responds to strength, to a show of force, to united opposition.
Violence only helps Trump & may provide him an excuse to further trample our rights by invoking the Insurrection Act.
