Senator Amy Klobuchar, co-sponsored by 8 Senate Democrats, has introduced a bill to try and reduce rent prices.

The bill targets companies that collect data on rental markets from landlords and create an algorithm to determine rents, something she called a "high-tech" version of collusion.

Each time I have sat down to write something since the election, I am bothered by this recurring phrase that I simply cannot get out of my head.

So, this time I am going to just say it out loud: we are on our own. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/we-a...

Donald Trump dehumanizes people.

Bishop Mariann Budde tried to bring humanity and actual Christianity back into civil discourse.

MAGA screeches at the Bishop.

Tired of those fake azz Christians.

Talking about a treaty ally like a mob boss running a protection racket: "maybe things have to happen with respect to Denmark"
Trump: "The people of Greenland would love to become a state of the United States of America. Now, Denmark maybe doesn't like it. But then we can't be too happy with Denmark and maybe things have to happen with respect to Denmark having to do with tariffs."

The alliance was formed with the goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

Let this serve as another reminder that so-called “corporate social responsibility” is a sham.

He is fronting for a deranged oligarch who wants to establish a new world order of megalomaniacal oligarchs.

Yeah, it’s bad.
If you think that graphic artists, photographers, painters and voice actors have it bad right now - it is nothing of what's happening in the gaming industry next year. There is no regulation there at all, and so many people got fired in 2024, no matter how much good work they did.

It took me FAR too long as a white dude to accept that racism really is at the core of so much that is fucked-up and wrong about the United States. There's a difference between understanding it intellectually and seeing the depressing fact of it until even someone like me can't deny it anymore.
The lesson the American left should learn from the S. Korean protests is that racism enables American authoritarianism more than anything else.

The psychological wages of whiteness are a real currency white people of a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds are willing to be paid in.
So one of the reasons South Korea is a healthier democracy is that it’s a relatively homogeneous country and racism can’t be used as an effective tactic for attacking democracy. The psychological wages of whiteness in the US are a key reason authoritarian attacks on democracy in the US succeed

This is so gross. And it keeps happening. Why not depose him? The case wouldn’t cost more than $15M and ABC would have won if they bothered fighting. I don’t get it.

ABC News had a very strong case on the merits (“we just used the same word the presiding judge used”)

They have the in-house lawyers and deep pockets to fight it.

They folded anyway.

They didn’t need to announce the settlement sum. But apparently they wanted everyone to see their capitulation.
JUST IN: A day after Trump and George Stephanopoulos were ordered to appear for depositions, they settled the case.

ABC has agreed to make a $15 million contribution to Trump presidential museum/foundation and air an apology for mischaracterizing the E. Jean Carroll verdict.
