I picked up the Murderbot series on a Humble Bundle. Going to start with the first short story in a bit. Not sure what to expect.

Also managed to pick up the first couple of Thursday Murder Club books and Circe from a second hand book shelf for £1.50.

I want to explain a few things and then it might be clearer why UK trans people are upset.
In 2001 I married my wife, Sylvia.
In 2005 I started medical transition. (1/13)

First sub-30min 5k since coming back from injury/illness/chronic laziness. There's a way to go before I'm back to where I was, but it's progress!

there was a brief period from 2014-2022ish where rich people weren't allowed to sexually harass their secretaries and now we must make Dead Space look like an optimistic timeline as a result

Massive. Bollocks.
I had to hunt down that Lucy Bronze quote about playing with a fractured tibia because my brain was struggling to comprehend that was real but it is indeed

England really won all these games AND the Euro 🏆

Plot armour and MASSIVE BOLLOCKS. Unbelievable stuff. I absolutely adore this team.

This England team seems to function entirely on plot armour and having the biggest bollocks in sport. Incredible stuff. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Carter has been out of her depth this tournament. It's a colossal leap from that to racially abusing a player. That is absolutely unacceptable and should be called out by anyone who sees it. It's only when everyone stands together against discrimination and hate that there's a chance of ending it.
A message from England defender Jess carter.

We stand and support Jess. There’s no place for hate and racism in this game.

Keir starmer is literally modern day Margaret thatcher. Bigotry repeats itself.
I’m starting to see educationists and “journalists” praising the anti-misogyny parts of the RHSE “guidance” but leaving out any mention of Labour’s Section 28.

These people are deeply transphobic and dishonest.

One thing I do miss from the other place is the non-league and WoSo football chat. The community here is nowhere near as big for that, if it exists at all.

This Labour government are significantly worse on so many issues the even Theresa May's Tories were, let alone Cameron. An authoritarian administration, actively out to harm GRSM in the UK.
THREAD 🧵 of initial thoughts on the transphobic schools "guidance" produced by this deeply transphobic Labour government today.

SECTION 28+

This morning the media coverage of the new RHSE guidance for schools led me to suggest it represents Labour’s Section 28. The real thing is, however...

🆕🚨 New statutory Relationships and Sex Education guidance published today will:

- Restrict schools from using materials that "encourage pupils to question their gender"
- Teaches children the laws about "biological sex"
- Removes all references to the word transgender

Please don’t ignore this the next time you’re told “it’s either these guys or Reform” coz this is also what Reform would do and you should rail against it no matter what colour the tie is.

What I love (read: hate) the most about the Trump administration erasing bi people from LGBTQ history is that no one gives a shit except for the bi movement, because no matter what, we can always count on everyone and everything to be biphobic.

WTF is slagging Lessi Russo off?! Would guess it's from the same people who "don't watch women's football".

At this point, I'm frankly not even worried about Reform. Labour have already dialed it up a notch or two from the Tories, what's another authoritarian party in a long line of authoritarian parties.

This online safety bill *could* have been great legislation that took away children's ability to see unsuitable content like and removed the ability to be ano yous while abusing people online. I fear, instead, that this is going to be used heavily to identify protesters, dissidents and undesirables.
Starting July 25, Bluesky will require users in the UK to scan their face, upload an ID or verify their identity with a bankcard.

I realize that platforms feel they have no choice but to comply with the government surveillance schemes, but shocking nonetheless.
