instead of cutting taxes and stopping costs on the car traffic that makes Portland worse, like a Republican, how about you tax the wealthy and use the revenue for programs to help the lower class? You know, like a progressive might.

Why not just take that money and subsidize the existing fast foot ferries so they take the same fare as all other transit service? Oh, right, that only benefits people and not cars.
Ferguson proposing $3 billion in bonds for highways and vehicle ferries and then proposing to divert hundreds of millions in Climate Commitment Act dollars a few days later is such an incredible one-two punch.

There's plenty of uses for cargo bikes, which fit far better into an urban environment than any personal gas-powered vehicle. For instance:

I think when this many people turn out for a new safe crossing, it says something about the overall lack of safe crossings. Great to see so many people who care, though!

This could be describing the intersection I bike through every day for work. Despite having NTOR signs, 25mph speed limit, and being adjacent to a premier rail trail, a six-lane stroad is still a stroad and encourages reckless driving. Every few months I'll have a close call with a red-light runner

Apparently the fact that I need this to breathe doesn't enter into this calculation, nor the fact that the "cheapest" inhaler I can use is already almost $300/mo w/o insurance (thankfully I do). Maybe we should ask drivers to drive only when needed? #weekwithoutdriving

This happened on my bike commute route. That barrier clearly darted into traffic and needs some more hi-viz clothing. Driver can't be responsible for this at all.
A nice thing about this kind of incident getting onto the Seattle subreddit, and then having very active comment sections, is that a lot of folks process exactly why this kind of protection is needed.

If Spokane can do it, so can we. We just have to get over our Seattle exceptionalism "housing prices are completely out of our control" attitude.
The constant boundary adjustments and deletions in Seattle’s proposed “neighborhood centers” kind of illustrate that concentrating growth there is just too cute by half.

Just allow up to 40’ in height citywide, with no FAR limit and a mix of uses everywhere.

It’s time to get real about density. It has not caused gentrification. It hasn’t displaced the black population of Seattle. Single family zoning displaced Seattle’s black population. The biggest drop in black population was in that zone. The growth occurred in multi family zones that grew housing.
