I cannot express how important it is for anyone going through a secured checkpoint like TSA to make sure thier phone is in BFU (Before First Unlock) mode. To enter this state: reboot your phone and don't unlock it.
In BFU mode all data is encrypted and your phone requires a passcode to unlock.

I was just asked for my phone (to swipe the outside for whatever) for the 1st time during a “random” TSA extra screening for a domestic flight - i told them i didn’t consent to a search of the phone, made sure there were no notifications visible & it was locked and didn’t let it out of my sight…

…maybe this has been happening for a while but I had never experienced it…make sure you have passcode requirements enabled for all apps with notifications so if it happens to you they can’t see notifications that might pop up while they are holding it…and no facial recognition!

I watched the Lupita Nyong'o Twelfth Night on PBS app tonight and it's my favorite production of the play. Incredible cast. Great command of the language. Staging and delivery made the language crystal clear. Cut kept good pacing. I strongly recommend it.

If women are underrepresented in STEM, it's at least partly because men like this offer mentoring, then embarrass themselves by assuming their mentees must be into them, then decide the best solution is to cut ties, which sends the signal to other faculty that the mentee must not be good enough.
