Yep, I’ve been using him as an example for a few days now

It’s what the Reich Wing is trying to do with Kirk. Hopefully America treats Kirk’s death like an average school Shooting and forgets all about it within the next 13 days

"A friend is in the cross hairs of the administration. I asked her if her world had gotten smaller. Not exactly, she said. “It’s like what happens when somebody dies. There will always be people who will disappoint you. And other people show themselves, having been through what you’ve been through”

When I interviewed older South Asian British people about their retirement decisions over a decade ago, a large number said they had kept a passport and land in India and Pakistan 'just in case'

When I asked 'in case what?' they responded 'in case we are told to leave Britain'
Nigel Farage: "We will abolish indefinite leave to remain (ILR) status", and "We will rescind ILR statuses that have already been granted".

The first sentence is worryingly ignorant. The second sentence is frighteningly fascist.

Having spent the last few days in Warsaw, I'm more conscious of the echoes of 1939-45 - not just Hitler's aggression & Stalin's treachery, but the fecklessness of the Western allies. Ukraine has had far more help than Poland, but if Putin ultimately wins, W fecklessness will have helped again.
On this day in 1939, German and Soviet forces marched together in a victory parade in Brest-Litovsk.

Moscow called it a “liberation campaign.” For Poland, it meant occupation, executions and mass deportations.

The truth is there are three kinds of people: the disabled, the pre-disabled, and the doomed to die suddenly. Most of us will be disabled at some point.
You’re much closer to becoming disabled or homeless than you are to becoming rich and wealthy.

It’s not a moral failing. It’s not something you can “try harder” your way out of.

We need robust social supports & safety nets to ensure everyone is properly cared for.

Man alive. I have studied Right Wing authoritarianism for years and have watched some truly fucked up shit and today’s memorial service is maybe the most concentrated example of how messed up and disturbing that sector truly is.
