Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

Because it feels relevant as we continue to evaluate the media and our representatives’ statements, my favorite way to identify the active vs. passive voice.
A post by Rebecca Johnson:
“I finally learned how to teach my guys to ID the passive voice. If you can insert "by zombies" after the verb, you have passive voice.”

A tumblr respond from mightymur:
“The final, brilliant word on passive voice.
"She was killed [by zombies.]"<--passive
"Zombies killed [by zombies] her." <-- active”

Our Owlbear Plush comes in three different colors: brown, snowy, and rose.

The snowy Owlbear Plush is perfect for those Arctic adventures, and those who loved Doric's snowy owlbear in the D&D movie!

Time to bring one home?

ah hell, SOAR is such an important (and super economical) program

but then, budgeting isn't really their goal, it's harming people

I haven't been on here much lately so I don't know the most about this whole situation (mostly I've read up on it some), but this looks like info I feel like some people who follow me would be interested in

I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

I did some work for the Children's Levy at one point and the number of different nationalities of folks using the applying services was surprisingly high, especially in east portland apparently

I started watching a show but was having a hard time getting into it, suddenly realized it's because the premise of the show is coercion by a federal agent to force the main character to betray their family & endanger themselves with the threat of unjust punishment

huh, wonder why I'm not into that

as much as it's surely harming the state's financial ecosystem gosh do I like living somewhere that doesn't charge sales tax

oh that sounds weird, I don't think I'd like those

I've visited a few gyms over the years when I considered joining them, and they always gave me a tour of their facilities

Daily bunny no.3100 is just a branch away
A bunny sits on the branch of a tree at night, sipping tea and looking at the full moon. On the moon, another small bunny is visible, also drinking tea while looking back at the bunny on the tree branch

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

This is such sound advice

I'm about to be 28 and a few years ago drew up my will, but most importantly established for now end of life wishes. Absolutely anything can happen to any of us at any time, and even being young my people should know what I want and be able to act on my behalf
sesmith.lol
A really cool thing you can do for your family is have a detailed conversation about your end of life wishes, with a very clear advance directive, long before you think you'll need it. And also to have a hospice consult EARLY, again, before you need it, so it's in place when you do.

$12 a day for food is super reasonable, especially considering how much groceries are these days (they want $8 for a big bag of chips)

probably to make it seem more inviting to anyone stopping by to see if they feel pumped up there and maybe want to join more

also gyms without music often either sound much too quiet or much too full of grunting and clanking and whatnot

"If thousands of studies are telling you to look for a certain kind of harm and then millions of people start wondering why they are experiencing exactly that type of harm, is it so hard to connect those two dots?"

Or has #COVID has destroyed people's ability to reason...?

Nobody has Long COVID, but everybody has brain fog, cognitive decline and memory loss. I talk about the overwhelming scientific evidence that COVID damages the brain, and the overwhelming social unwillingness to acknowledge it in my latest:

Joking memes make light of the uncomfortable reality: everyone's got a little of that post-COVID brain damage these days
