Children as young as *four* are being put in the position of representing themselves without lawyers/parents present in front of immigration judges in cases that will determine whether they are deported.

its fucking ridiculous that someone who gave up religion as long ago as I did fears who the next pope is going to be as much as I am today. Francis had his issues, but if you take two steps back, he was about as liberal as you're going to get from a pope. particularly given his predecessor.

I have been a lapsed catholic since I was a teenager, but I think Francis was one of the better leaders of a church that has so many fucking problems, and at least tried to force the institution to live a modicum of the beliefs it claims to stand on. rest in peace.
