There are reasons to think the claims that Gen Z “doesn’t drink” or even drink less than millennials did at their age aren’t true – it seems to be partly a Covid effect and partly some dodgy stats.

But I could easily believe they drink earlier and go home earlier. Pubs look *quiet* after 9pm now…

Ad hominem is a specific type of informal logical fallacy. Namely attempting to refute an argument on the basis that the person is, say, stupid or untrustworthy.

As fucking atrocious as western coverage of the genocide in Gaza has been, the accompanying ecocide in both Gaza and the West Bank has gone almost totally unacknowledged. Palestinians have cultivated these trees for generations. The oldest tree in Palestine could be up to 5,000 years old.

This is fantastic news for Irish artists. The key thing now is that the scheme remains randomly allocated, rather than decided by some committee of govt-appointed gatekeepers.
It also begs the question, if Basic Income works for artists, why not extend it to everyone?

Microsoft says its Agent Mode in Excel has an accuracy rate of 57.2 percent in SpreadsheetBench, a benchmark for evaluating an Al model's ability to edit real world spreadsheets. This result places Agent Mode above Shortcut.ai, ChatGPT agent with xIsx support, and Claude Files Opus 4.1. It's still behind the human accuracy of 71.3 percent, though.
